Hi all--

Heading to NYC and want to get Wicked tickets. Ticketmaster is supposedly the "only" ticket seller......two questions:

---Do you get your tix thru Ticketmaster or elsewhere?

---Where to sit in the Gershwin?

Thanks--

I got mine through Ticketmaster. The earlier you buy the better. I like the front, center mezzanine. They are the best seats in the house, especially if you can get front row!

I will tell you that they are impossible to get at the TKTS booth.

Ticketmaster is probably your best bet.

Fantastic show! You can try searching on Broadway box. They sometimes have decent seats. Theater mania (I have never used but they also sell seats) I have only ever sat in center or left side row DD. Hate ticketmaster! If all else fails, go to box office that day. A young couple sitting next to us got lucky. Have fun!

Go to the theatre box office. The best seats are available there without a surcharge. They always have them. You can also inquire about the $25 ticket lotto they hold each morning.

I can't help you with your questions. I just wanted to say that I saw Wicked a couple of weeks ago in Providence and absolutely loved it! :cool1:
Enjoy your trip and the show!

I have seen Wicked 5 times so far....going back for #6 in March! My best seats ever were in the center Mezzanine row B, when we sat in row A we all had a hard time seeing over or under the safety railing that runs along the balcony.

A lot of the action in the show takes place up in the air or in the back of the stage, which is why I prefer the mezzanine. We are sitting in the orchestra for the first time in March. We bought our tickets right at the box office in November for March 27 and there were no "good seats" left. We are to the right of the stage, row j or something like that, but we are going with a group of people.

It also depends on when you want to go, Saturdays or any weekend show will be tough......I took my parents in November for their anniversary to a Wed matinee and those were the best seats we have had (bought in May for November)

Broadway.com may have better seats available for only $25 or $50 more than the face value if you can't find seats that you love

I highly recommend listening to the soundtrack and getting to know the music before you go......it is a GREAT show!

Do you want the best seats available or do you have a set price limit you would like to buy. I am not sure about where to sit at other venues, but I have seen it in NYC just before it one a gillion Tony's! This is one of the few shows that I wouldn't want to sit front row and I have seen plenty of shows front row. We sat midway thru the orchestra center in the seats one row behind Jon Bon Jovi and something tells me that he would only have what is considered the "best" seats.:cool1: The seats were perfect since we could see the high flying action and the smaller character interaction.

They do a ticket lottery for some really good seats at an uber cheap price but that takes a lot time out of short trip to wait for the lottery and usually each winner is limited to two tickets so if you are a larger party that doesn't work. We got our great seats by waiting till just after the lottery and joining the box office line waiting for ticket cancels. This is the point that the ticket resellers turn in the tickets (usually REALLY good seats) to the box office in hopes that the box office can sell them at face value. The ticket scalpers dont make a profit, but they also don't lose anything either. This approach isn't for everyone I have seen dozens of shows in the some of the best seats in the house just by waiting till shortly before showtime to buy tickets.

If you are just going to town to see one show I don't recommend it, but if you are in town for a weekend and are flexible then go for the cancel line. Back in 2004 the hottest ticket in town was The Producers because Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane were performing, we got tickets by standing in the cancel line, getting backs stage to meet them was a stroke of luck that was amazing!

Get your tickets early! I could have brought decent tickets through ticketmaster and kept putting it off and my dear sweet husband ended up paying way too much for us to see Wicked in NYC last summer. It was our first broadway show and it was wonderful! It also helped that Oprah was sitting a few rows in front of us that night. Get the best seats you can afford and you will not regret it. I just brought tickets for my family to see it when it comes to NC in May.

Just want to add to the chorus and say if you have your heart set on seeing Wicked, suck it up and buy tickets early on Ticketmaster. I hate paying full price for theater tickets, but for Wicked, it must be done.

You can always take a chance and see if there are tickets available at the box office, but you are taking a chance and it may be sold out for all nights you're there. If Wicked is your number one choice, buy tickets in advance! :goodvibes

Not sure if this code will help anyone, but I just went to see Wicked in Philly last week and they sent me a code to get $10.00 off next purchase of tics for others shows. I have rec'd many great codes from the the Dis and wanted to share, hope it will help someone. Wicked was so worth the money, loved it!
It may be just for the Philadelphia shows, but worth a try.
Code: Wicked10 (This was for the Kimmel web site)
