whydoidothatWHYdoidothatWHYDOIDOTHAT???

I saw the header from the main board and had to follow it in. . .

And saw this.

Okay, department of backstory. One of my dear relations is Deaf. As a child, her parents took her to Dollywood every year during Deaf Days, just so that for one week of her year, she would be the "average" one and everyone else in the family would be the "weirdos". (Dear Relation's way to express it, not mine!)

Well, a dear friend has a nephew who recently (he's in middle school) told his mom that he likes boys not girls. (Not to stereotype, but uh, yeah, it wasn't news to any one who's known the kid since he was in diapers.) I mentioned the story of Dollywood Deaf Days and said (I who am Disney infected) that Disney has Gay Days, and Disney beats out Dollywood by a country mile, IMHO.

I said it rather jokingly, with only an ounce of conniving, but now DF's family are thinking about going to Disney during Gay Days! (Missing school days too, I think, on the grounds that it's "educational" or something. . .) I actually kinda' feel sorry for the kid. He comes out, and his folks use it as an excuse to justify going to Disney! :rotfl:

Anyway, I find it funny, people who don't want to go to Disney in June because they think it's "family unfriendly". What? Huh? Dear Friend's family wouldn't probably go to Disney normally, but this is FOR family, dang it! They'll suffer through Disney to do it! (Poor babies!)

Ok, ok, ok! Add me to the Rosie Lovers Group. :teeth: (Do we need a 12 step)?

I guess what bugs me (among many things) is that there seems to be the concept that our families don't matter, that the precious baby in Tinkerchelle's signature is somehow not "real" family. How can that be? Look at that baby!

Ugh.

Thank you all for putting perspective on if for me though. :grouphug: Sometimes I just can't deal with the unadulterated crap.

I asked my daughter tonight how she feels about gay people. (She is 9 and in our small town there aren't that many, but one of her friends has two mom's). She said "What do you mean how do I feel about them? They're people mom, I can only tell you about a person if I know them personally...that's like saying "how do you feel about blondes" It's not right to judge people like that, how about by who they are on the inside?."

Nice to know that I offended my child by asking that question. But also fantastic to know that she will grow up with an open-mind.

That's great!

I like to lock my kid in boxes...but I don't use boxes of ignorance. I try to use fridge boxes or oven boxes. I used to be able to use tv boxes but the flat screens have very thin boxes and it doesn't allow much room for my kiddo to move around, plus I have to put her on a diet so she's skinny enough to fit in one. Ugh...such hassles!

Watch the part that starts at 3:15 or so :P

You guys all crack me up! Thanks for a great read after a tough day at work! :lmao:

I can honestly count the number of times I've been on the other boards on one hand. If I want to know something specific about the parks or restaurants I either ask you guys or just click on one of the links above. Plus I kind of feel like a number when I go to the other boards. :confused3

When I created an account with another Disney site that has member boards I felt like I was talking to about 3000 random people. My brain can't process all that!

Does not compute.......
*MEEEEEEEEP!*

Rosie...kick some butt! I'll give Wally one of my fingers too! (Preferably my index finger...it's swollen and ugly)

Thanks ladies for the fingering. :cloud9:

BTW -- Have we already moved on to Valentines' Day Wally?

What about New Years, MLK (Oh where, Oh where is our outsider art lady when we REALLY need her?) Day, and President's Day Wallies?
