Have you ever had one of those years?
First I was laid off at the end of January (Going on 5 months now)
Then my mother in law is diagnosed with cancer.
Then my wife is diagnosed with overian cysts (sp?)
So my wife decides that we should take her parents to Orlando to visit Disney World. She talks to my parents who donate their Vacation Club points, and we reserve a 2 bedroom at OKW for a week. We cash in our Delta airline vouchers and end up getting 4 tickets to Orlando (net cost to us $70). I cash in my AMEX points for a car rental certificate, and reserve a rental car. And once all the plans are in place we surprise her mom and day with the details. (Bare in mind that this poor lady is going through chemotherapy and the thought of going on vacation is what is keeping her going)
Then I get a nice letter from the IRS (Yippee, I get to be audited, bend over and grab my ankles)
So now, less than a week before vacation my Mother in law ends up in the hospital with an ulcer, and since she is on countless drugs (for her Chemo, and blood thinners fro her artificial valves) it appears that she will not be able to go on vacation. She is devastated, and wants to sign herself out against medical advice (We aren't going to let her), my wife, Father in law and I are trying to keep her spirits up, but it is not easy.
At this point the only reason I wake up in the morning is to see what else could possibly go wrong.
I have never been too spiritual, but if anyone out there wants to send karma, prayers, good wishes, pixie dust my way I sure could use it.
