why do you want to become what you want to become? we always have "what do you want to do when you grow up" threads, but why do you want to do what you say you want to do?

I really want to become something in forensics. Right now I'm leaning towards a forensic psychologist or a forensic psychiatrist. I find the criminal mind very interesting.

I would love to work with the criminally insane, specifically. My dad was and brother is bipolar and leaning towards schzophrenia(spelling?), and it boggles my mind what has run through their mind. I would loveeee to find out more and work with people who may be like that.

That might sound pretty bad, but I dont know. It's just a very interesting topic to me..

I've thought about going into forensic social work, mostly since it pays really well. I'm just not sure that I could do it full time. Its basically creating a background for the defendant in a criminal case (like a murder case) to present the jury with a full understanding of the person's behavior, so an appropriate conviction is obtained. There's a lot of psychology, which i like, but also a LOT of travel and some of the cases take months and months and months, and you pretty much have to be an expert in some field so its hard to break into. but the money would be nice. (they make like 400$ an hour.) ;)

I'm sure I've said it a thousand times and I sound like a broken record - but I'm going to be an Imagineer when I "grow up".

It's not a practical job, nor is it easy to attain, but I am determined to make this dream come true. Why? Because it truly is the perfect profession for me.

First and foremost, I am a obsessive Disney freak. My obsession for the Disney parks has always been quiet. I've frequented DL, WDW, and TDL in my childhood, but had never been an annual-type like most on the DISboards. until a few years ago when I started researching the Haunted Mansion. Before I knew it, I was looking up everything I could about WDW (cue me finding the DIS). After a while I began to learn about DL, TDL and TDS, DLP, and HKDL. I know pretty much every land in every park like the back of my hand - and I haven't visited most of them! I am a voracious reader when it comes to the Disney parks and properties - I cannot get enough. I spend hours upon hours learning about Disney. It's completely unhealthy, but I love it so. Outside of the parks, I also have a passion for the movies. One of my favorite hobbies this past year is renting old and sometimes semi-obscure Disney live-action films and watching them. I've actually discovered some of my favorites this way (The Happiest Millionaire, In Search of the Castaways, The Absent-Minded Professor, Follow Me, Boys!, Pollyanna, Darby O'Gill and the Little People). I visited the Disney Studios last fall and was thrilled by everything I saw. Because of my thirst and love of Disney parks and knowledge, Imagineering seems the logical place for me.

In addition to my love for Disney, I have a second love that is just as strong: the theatre. Ever since I was little and saw my first play (Fiddler on the Roof), I've been hooked on the theatre. Since then, I've seen 21 plays, plenty on broadway and plenty on tour, including the plays I've seen and worked on in my high school. When I was in middle school, I decided I wanted to do Stage Crew in high school. This means building the set, and then in addition, moving the set during the play. Well, I have just completed my 6th show, and I plan on becoming a Stage Manager next year. In college I plan to major in Theatre Design or Scenic Design, and continue my education and love of theatre.

What on earth does all of this theatre mumbo-jumbo have to do with WDI? Well, think about it: The Disney parks are the ULTIMATE stage. There are sets, props, facades, lighting, music, onstage/backstage, costumes, and the list goes on and on. By majoring in theatre design, I will dabble in many of these disciplines (which by the way, are all imagineering!). Imagineering is the perfect way for me to combine my two greatest passions. Plus, the thought of creating the magic and happiness that guests feel gives me chills- I can't wait!

The path will be long and winding, but I will end up at WDI. I may not know how or where, but until then, I'll keep studying theatre and the Disney parks, as well as continue to come up with ideas for the parks.

Ah I see! I'm not 100% sure on this yet, or which field I will specifically focus on. But I am definitely going into a forensic career!

& yes, the money for that specific career would be amazing ;)

I really want to be a paedatrition(sp?)
Why? Tbh, I'm not so sure why. I watched some show about 4 years ago on TV. It was about the top ten most wanted jobs. When they visited a childrens hospital I just felt so sorry for the kids and wondred whatI could do about it. Medicine really interests me, also, so that's good. And I'm not really into a huge amount of other subjects that would be 'helpful'. I mean, I like drama but I'd never be an actrice. I like maths and English, but alone those qualifications aren't enough.
So basically I need to get really really good Bio results to have a hope of doing what I want.
And I'm only 14 (nearly 15!) but I have decided what uni I want to go to and where I want to work :) ( Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital if you were wondering :P )

I want be a counsellor. The reason why is because I want to help people and when I've done I was really disappointed by the way in which it was done as it didn't help me....and I know for others aswell it hasn't. Thoguh I would love to help people more with gender and sexuality issues as I know thats where so many people have had problems (some even having to tell counsellors what the conditions of things were (i.e. what being transgender is)).

I want to be a nurse because both during treatment and after treatment, a few nurses have made such a deep impact on me. I'm convinced one saved my life because she had the exact same kind of cancer, was treated by the same doctors, and is a 10 year survivor. If I can help someone as much as they did me, everything would come full circle. All the surgeries, all the medications, all the treatments, they'd all be worth it.

Also, I want to be a nurse because I lost some friends and classmates from cancer while I was sick. I want to go on and help people like them because I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

i want to be an english teacher or a journalist.

english teacher;; it has to be like a writing/composition teacher...not the boring literature english teachers. i for some reason love editing people's papers and essays and what not. i'm very paranoid about proper grammar (you're, your, their, there, they're, etc.) and it drives me crazy when someone uses it in the wrong tense. my friends always give me their papers to edit and they always get good points on the grammar portion ;] and my boyfriend always has me check his college essays. and the weird thing is i actually like doing it. :]

journalist;; i love writing. plain and simple. my sophomore year i took a writing for the media class and i did really well in it...causing me to want to write stuff for newspapers or magazines as an actual profession.

as it stands now i'm going to go to university of wisconsin for education--more specifically english with a minor in journalism.. :]

I want to do something with Biology or Geography because I find them both interesting and I do well in those subjects at school, too.

The problem with me is that I like all different types of art and design, yet I'm not good enough in any one of them in order to make it a career.

And being an artist in general doesn't pay much at all, so it'd be hard in this economy.

I want to be a high school music teacher, because I want to find and give students opportunities that I had to find for myself in high school. I want to open doors to the world of music, and I want to influence the kids positively, even if they don't end up majoring in music. The music opportunities that I had opened many doors for me and I was able to go to New York City recently because of them. I also want to be there for the students, because from 5th grade through 12th grade I've had 4 different music teachers. One only stayed a few months, not even making it to semester time. (here the music teacher is the one for 5th-12th grade).

One carrer I will always jump at if the opportunity presents itself is that of a Disney imagineer. I want to help create the magic that I experienced when I went to Disney World for the first time. I don't know what it would involve, but I do know that there are people of many different majors at imagineering.

Another carrer is working with Disney Magic Music Days, if they have jobs in that division. I would love to provide help for the special experience that music programs are taking their kids on. It would combine my love of Disney with my love of music. That's my absolute dream job, somehow combining working at Disney and working with music.

My journalism teacher in high school was also an english teacher, but she was TERRIBLE with proper english grammar, since when you write for journalism, you don't write with the same grammatical rules that english uses. She was ok at journalism, but an awful english teacher. ;)

You might want to look into marketing/advertising. :confused3

At the moment, i'd like to do something with natural disasters. I'm hopefully taking a course in natural hazards & disaster management at University (if I get the grades to get in) so I hope it'll help me choose what to do.

I find them interesting, and like to learn how they can occur and where. It's also good in helping others as I learn how you to manage them. Hopefully it can be good travel-wise, which is something I would like to do in a job.

I want to be an elementary school teacher.
Mainly because I want to help kids
I love school though, and teaching just seems like the place for me.

An on-stage actress or a screenwriter. As far as the actress thing, I've been on stage for a good eight years running now. It just feels natural, and I love it. The screenwriting epiphany just came to me recently, when I came up with an alternate ending to a TV show. From there I just grew...right now, I am working on a few original TV shows and their scripts. I just freaking love it.

I want to be a physician's assistant. I'm also considering doing a tour in the army.

The reason that I want to be a physician's assistant is that I want to help people. And I know I can do that in other jobs, but the human body fascinates me. I've always been a science dork and just figuring out how things work and why is thrilling to me. I like to fix things and I want to fix people. And I know that I'll have to go through losing patients, making mistakes, and possible law suits but that's all part of what builds up a person. Coming out stronger on the other side. I want to spend my life doing that.

i want to be a fashion stylist because i love puting outfits together and people have told me that i have quite a talent for it.

i also want to be a fashion designer/manufacturer specialising in custom garments because i love drawing clothes and sewing, but would not like to work for a fashion house or anything because its an extremely stressful industry.

I want to do something with infectious disease. That field has a lot to offer. I'm split between becoming a research virologist and an epidemiologist. I'd love to be a virologist because I'd be content working in a lab for hours on end, learning everything I can about what's placed underneath the microscope, so to speak. Specifically, I'd prefer to work in BSL 4 or BSL 3. In my opinion, the more dangerous, the better. I'd love to be an epidemiologist because I like problem solving.

I'll probably end up as a virologist though, because someone's gotta do the job, especially when most people are terrified of the unknown and the lethal.
