I have a question. VMK felt the need to change my name on the game, but the funny thing is, my name was already approved. So all of a sudden yesterday, I logged in and I get a screen saying my name was not approved and they told me to change it. I've contacted staff about it and I've tried to get a hold of community leaders, staff and hosts. so could anyone tell me why this is going on?

This happens all the time. Did you have your real name in your VMK name? If not, what was your old name?

Basically, welcome to the weird world of VMK name approvals, disapprovals, re-approvals, and un approvals. None of it makes sense to any of us. I think everyone has to go through at least one name change. I'm waiting for mine. I think they haven't figured out how to have a CL_Guest1237487 yet and that's the only reason.

Just use the name picker. You can come up with some bizarre combinations that may suit you. My DS13 is AwesomeStrangeBoy, or something like that!

HI there this is my guess. You are not allowed to use proper names and maybe having the VMK title Annebonny they might think is a really name. The have made people get rid of school teacher, Aunt, or anything that might seem identifying. So I think no matter what you try Anne is a real name so you might start thinking of another title. Oh and they have started to clamp down on disney names to for some reason. This is a good place if you would like suggestions. Like Anebone

Yes, ever so slowly they are cracking down on people putting in a "real name" in their VMK title. I'm waiting for the day for my son, DarthJordan, to lose his. I know it's coming...

Well, they don't know if it's your real name or not. Even though you signed up with a name, I don't think they check that out before approving names.

Feel lucky. One DIS person had her name approved, then unapproved, approved the same name, unapproved the same name, approved the same name again, I think unapproved yet again. It went back and forth for quite a while. I think she finally ended up with something else.

So, we just don't know their criteria for approving names.

Dara: I don't care for some of those pre-approved names. I created a new Halloween character today and looked at quite a few of them. The don't change the choices if you change from a boy to a girl. Or from a girl to a boy. So, they have boys names that I would never think of for a boy. lol

My title was changed some time ago after having had it for over a year and half, not new news here, as this has happened to many of you, but my DH characters title was acetopdog for over two years, then a few months back they made him change it, and guess what it is now? aceacetopdog!!! ROFL.... go figure.....

Just just a slight hint here - the people that approve titles live overseas -think a Scandinavian country, lol. So they are not always up on current implications of titles. They may approve - then on further looks by regular staff, it gets overturned.

I had AnneBonny right after Beta also had MaryRead and GraceOmalley they allowed them for a very short period and then made me change them.

Sadly when VMK deleted accounts all of those accts got it.

Actually, I wanted Tiki to be named JaneEyre after my favorite book heroine, but no dice. Wasn't approved by VMK, and she's a fictional character.

Not sure if this is true or just a rumor, but I read on MiceAge.com last night:

"There will still be the two rafts traveling back and forth between the old mainland dock and the island, although the rafts have been renamed and propped out as pirate cargo carriers. Gone are the literary names given to the rafts since 1956 of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Joe Harper, and in their place are two rafts named for famous pirates Anne Bonney and Blackbeard. The raft drivers will have given up their traditional plaid shirts and straw hats (seen below) and will now be outfitted like true pirates in a new uniform designed specifically for Pirate's Lair."

The above is about the newly redesigned Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland. Again, not sure if this is rumor or fact, but may explain why your title was un-approved. Disney didn't want to cause confusion?

For what it's worth, I think the typo was on MiceAge's part, not Disney's.
