Unfortunatly I have to book 18months in advance at work

I wouldn't want to work there Anna - I would hate to have to give that much notice if I want time off :sad2:

That is bizzare - where on earth do you work?! Most companies don't tend to even keep holiday books/cards further than 12 months out...

Never had a problem booking 3 or 6 months before with jobs that I have had (working as an IT/Management Consultant for large companies). Your company sounds incredibly and unusually inflexible... :(

Can understand that you don't want to change again - am sure that you will have a fabulous trip at Pop Century :) :thumbsup2

Working as a nurse, for the NHS, I always had to give, at least, 12 months notice of what I wanted as holidays :confused3

Then again, being a female amongst, goodness knows how many other female nurses, I often never knew what I'd been granted until a couple of months prior to our trip :sunny:

School holidays were always a nightmare for parents but, as my ex was a teacher, I was fortunate enough to be able to 'dance around' such problems ;) ( taking children out of school wasn't such a big deal then either :thumbsup2 ) Everyone wanted the school hols!

Pop sounds a great choice - just wish we had another trip booked... :goodvibes

Our holiday year runs 1 March - 28 February and the list starts circulating around September time, so we too can be booking up to 18 months in advance. If you don't make a selection, you risk being left with a very poor choice. Priority is based on seniority, so for the first 7 years of my career, I didn't get a holiday with my husband because he got 'shut-down' weeks (i.e. all the major holidays) and they always went first. It seems outrageous now - these days every effort is made to make sure everyone gets what they want - but I started working in 1980 and things were very different then. I was never allowed time off to attend my daughters' nativity plays, for example. The role I carry out now allows me to take off whatever time I want whenever I want, but that's not the case for all my colleagues.

I work for a bank theres a few of us there too, its just the two week block we have to book so far in advance (as they audit our work in the two weeks we are away)

though if we want a general holiday day off its two weeks notice, plus we can only have two people off at the same time, there two people off right through to october now, lol

The holiday next year is thank fully now paid off, as is this year, so if I have to stop work for a while it wont matter too much.

I am looking forward to pop I really did enjoy it last year as did Chris, Especially decorating the room window.

Also pop does a mean cheese cake (I am looking positive)

Wow!!! That sounds awful :(

There is a whole world out there that I am not aware of... lucky me, I think.
