ok i have booked contemporary conceirge, for two weeks, and now I have been qouted $2000!! cheeper for grand floridian conceirge at sugar loaf

does this make sence to you, as its puzzling me lol

I posted very hastily, but seriously, you should take up the offer. The Contemporary is very nice, but the Grand Floridian is better. Maybe you paid over the odds in the first place. When are you going and what are you paying?

Anna, I'm not 100% sure about this as I am unaware of the exact Contemporary rates, but I believe that 14th floor concierge at the Contemporary (opposed to 12th floor concierge) is more expensive than Sugar Loaf over at the Grand Floridian. With 14th floor concierge you are getting the "full" concierge service, where as the GF sugar loaf, whilst nice, isn't a touch on the Main Building concierge services.

Further to my previous post, I have just dug out the rack rates. Notice that 14th floor concierge at the CR is indeed more expensive than SugarLoaf at the GF.

Contemporary 14th Floor Concierge $515/$575/$645/$725
Grand Floridian Sugar Loaf Concierge $475/$550/$635/$700

(Main Building GF concierge = $620 $700 $790 $875)
(12th Floor Contemporary Concierge = $465 $525 $595 $675)

That explains it, then. I was forgetting that there are 2 levels of Concierge at GF.

Anna so you are booked into the Contemporary but you are looking at changing and staying at the GF now instead?

Sorry just wondering why you have received another quote...

Anna - the GF is awsome - we stayed here when we got married and staying here for out next trip. It really is fantastic! :thumbsup2

"cant hold back the urge to change...." argh,
I will try think about it before I jump in with both my feet and chriss lol.

My urges lol

You sound just like me with all your changes! I very rarely go on the original holiday that was booked. Luckily I work in travel so I just go in and change my own bookings.

I think if it was me I would go for the Grand Floridian although unfortunately I've never stayed concierge so can't comment on the difference.

You are off on a family holiday to Orlando this September (2006), then this booking you are talking about here (Contemporary/Grand Floridian) is NEXT October (2007) isn't it?

If I was you, I would go with your heart on this decision and then leave your hotel plans as they are. THEN, go and have a BIG tour of all of the resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Beach/Yacht Club and anything else you may fancy). Explain that you are back in October 2007, "really like the resort you are looking round, but could you someone show you a (preferably) concierge room and maybe the concierge lounge too?". They should be able to do that. That should make it easy for you to make up your mind... That is what I would do. :confused3.

I find it kind of odd, because the resorts that you have booked so far for the Oct 2007 trip (Dolphin, Poly, Contemporary and maybe Grand Floridian) are all SO different - would be surprised that anyone would REALLY want to stay at all of them (and not have any strong preference for some over others).

I think this is the trouble with booking so far in advance. We book about 6 months in advance. I do lots of thorough research, book it and generally that's that. I trust my own decisions and don't want to waste time and energy rehashing my thoughts and making changes.

I think you'll find that poor Anna has had to change her plans again, due to unfortunate domestic circumstances, and has decided to stay at Pop Century next year now.

Ah I see, I can't keep up (think that I have done that before - posted about one change, before realising that was a couple of revisions back...).

Anna, have you thought about dropping the Upper Class flights and going for a deluxe instead? You could probably do PE and a Deluxe (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, or whatever) instead of Pop Century and Upper Class.... That is what I would do with similar budget constraints. The "Upper Class Experience" probably affects about 24 hours of your holiday, the hotel that you stay in affects 2 weeks.

Can't believe that I am encouraging you to change your holiday AGAIN... but want to see you get the most enjoyment possible. Again, maybe it would be worth waiting until your September trip before making any further changes - you could ave a really good look around the resorts and see what yhou like :)

One of the reasons that I only book about 6 months ahead - it is impossible to know what your circumstances will be in 15 months time...

Good luck with the family problems - hope that everything gets better very soon :)

Best wishes,
Boo

I agree. We've experienced UC a few times, but only as a free upgrade. Until we win the lottery, I suspect "affording" anything will boil down to making some choices and, whilst I would love to be able to choose UC every time, I could never prioritise that above first class accommodation. If we were talking about a few hundred pounds, different story altogether, but upgrading to UC is big bucks. We consider it every trip (and usually several times each trip), but, as long as we need to make these tedious choices, we will always choose nicer accommodation over upgraded flights.

Unfortunatly I have to book 18months in advance at work,

we have decided on pop century due to family issues wont be changing again
