I've been forever affected. I can't seem to stop from returning to Disneyworld. I go back again and again and again. Heck, it's gotten to the point that I can't go to Florida anymore unless I go to Disneyworld. I can't remember the last time I've seen the ocean or the beaches in Florida, mainly because I don't want to get off of Disney property for one minute once I'm there. I haven't been to Sea World or Universal in a long time either.

Please tell me that I'm not alone....do any of you forgo going to other attractions or the beach just so you can stay inside the Disney bubble the entire time you are there?

Let's use this thread to reaffirm exactly why we can't stop going back and why we will forsake seeing other things in Florida in order to stay immersed in the magic at Disney.

Hello Indiana Neighbor!!

You've come to the right place. I think you'll find that most people on the DIS feel that exact same way. :)

Sign me up. My DS dosnt think we are on vacation unless were at WDW.::yes::

It is very hard to explain. I get a high as soon as I start to plan a trip and it gets to a fever pitch as soon as I get off the plane. I just love the feeling. I know it is close to addiction but I don't care since it is harmless. I can stop anytime I want!:teeth:
What other place can you go where everyone is happy? (Except for the crazy parents that try to get their 3 year old to stay awake for 15 hours straight to see "everything")

Your question was if you were the only one......let me answer you with an exmaple. My best friend of 17years lives about 1 hour away from WDW. I live all the way up in NY. We never get to see eachother anymore. I go to WDW once a year and She knows that if we are going to get together while I'm down there, she has to meet me in WDW (ie, DTD for dinner) for I wont go to far off property when I'm there. She's a good friend, she understands that I'm a freak and loves me anyway:)

SamanthaL,

There IS another place!!

It's on the Disney Cruise Lines!!! Lots and lots of Disney freaks there, including me!!! LOL

Hop over to the cruise forum and you will see we have a thread for the addiction!! You are not alone!!!

Oh, Me too. Im an addict. I have sisters down there. They know they have to come see me at WDW. I can't imagine taking any other kind of vacation. I was thinking Hawaii might be nice to try once but than I thought where is the magic? I am going down in June and told the kids, "Don't expect to go to Disney." Ha! That thought lasted for about 2 hours. Can't fathom being in Florida without a visit. I guess our kids are lucky, Huh? There are certainly worse things we could be addicted to.

we just moved to florida!!! when i explained to my son that we were moving to florida, he thought we were moving into disney world! :teeth: had to break his little heart. BUT i do live close enough to go more often.

EmmasGrammy- I am afraid to try the cruise because one addiction is expensive enough!
We do intend on trying it though. Right after I finish my therapy sessions for WDW!;)

I figured I wasn't the only one who felt this way, but it sure helps to hear people say they too are addicted to the place as much as I am!

If I'm not there, I'm here on the boards thinking about being there. Really, being on these boards is the next best thing to being there.

Thanks to all for sharing!

And tgrlvspooh....hi to you too my fellow Hoosier!

:wave2:

I am addicted. Some friends and I were talking about taking a trip to Key West in May, and I asked if they thought maybe we could stop in Orlando, just for a day. :teeth:

I'm thinking about taking a trip out to northern California to visit my family this summer, and then going to southern CA to see my best friend. She already knows that we're going to have to go to Disneyland while I'm there. I didn't even ask the last time I was there, so she owes me big time. ;)

My DH and I can't seem to fathom heading anywhere *but* WDW for vacations. Ever since he had his very first taste in December, he can't think of anything else! I have a Disney addiction, but at least now I have someone to share it with.::yes::

True, but even before a Disney cruise we have to at LEAST stop at DTD for a few hours.

Believe me, we have tried to plan a vacation that everyone could enjoy. Some ideas are better than others, but at the end of the day none of them quite equal WDW.

For me, it's a disconnect from reality. When I'm at WDW, my biggest problem is how many attractions can I do before my next PS, and which t-shirt or sweatshirt will make me most happy when I get home. I actually forget about all my normal life problems at home.:earsboy:

I am definitly addicted to WDW and Disney in general and I believe there should be support groups for people like us. :)

We go to WDW every year and rarely leave the property. This year we are taking our 2 DD's to Sea World while we are there and I am not looking forward to it. I'm losing a valuable day at WDW and it bums me out:( . But, I do think our DD's will enjoy Sea World and I don't want to deny them that.

While we are at WDW we stay at the Poly and get a lagoon view because nothing gives me more joy on vacation than being able to see the castle morning, noon, and night :p. People say "isn't that expensive?" and I say sure, but I don't care. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't excessivly shop, so therefore WDW is my only addiction and darn it, I'm not stoppin!!!!!

I see this addiction beginning to develop in my 6yr old DD. When both of us see anything relating to Disney we always have to stop and see what it is. When my DD#2 was born in August I picked out Disney paint. My husband said, "Does it have to be Disney paint?" and I said "Absolutly!!!"

When people ask me "Why do you love WDW as much as you do?" I tell them this. WDW is the only place in the world where you can go and feel young at heart, very little stress, very special, and just all together great. The CM's are great and treat you with respect and genuinely make you feel as if they are thrilled to take care of you.

We will always return to WDW!! I feel it is important for adults to allow their inner child to come out and WDW definitly helps adult accomplish this. We love this place!!!! :wave2:  :wave2:

My friend asked us to skip Disney next year and vacation in Mexico. My heart started to pound, airways closing up, I couldn't breath. That is pure crazy talk!!
I think the look on my face told her it was never gonna happen.

I will leave Disney for Universal, but that is it.

Precisely because it's so magical! It's our third trip and we have not been anywhere else. Everyone says... Sea World ... the ocean and I know they would be great.... but there is just so much to experience at Disney. Plus we fly and take a towncar to the resort and DH really enjoys not having to drive!

It's the best and we're going soon

Agree 100% for those who have already posted that it is the total escape from reality and the responsibilities of adulthood that makes Disney unique. What better way to really enjoy a family vacation. We all get to let our hair down, dress in silly Disney clothes and play!

Disney is a great getaway for us and we love it. That's why we bought into DVC - so that we can enjoy the magic until 2042!

:D

I like going to WDW simply because I'm a Disney fanatic, which is mostly because of WDW. :D I like that everyone is having a great time, the rides and attractions are fun, there's a lot to do, and there's always something new to see that I didn't see before. Mostly, though, it's because there is a magical feeling that I get when I'm there that I don't feel anywhere else. I've tried explaining this feeling to non-Disney fans, but they just stare at me blankly. Thankfully, all of you know what I'm talking about.
