Why would'nt Disney put two beds in all the studios?

I was really wanting to rent points at DVC properties for our future trips, seeing that it is a great deal, but since only one property has two beds in the studios I suppose that is out of the question. We really need two beds and renting a two bedroom would cost just too much. Oh well, I just wonder why Disney put two beds in the studios at OKW and not at any of the others?

You do realize that all of the other studios have a sleeper sofa also so the rooms will sleep 4 or is it that you just want the two beds? I guess this is a flexibility/space issue going with the sleeper sofas. I've read on here the newer sleeper sofas are fairly comfortable but can't comment personally.

The wide appeal for smaller traveling groups may be one reason for studios with only one bed. For instance, on trips that are just with my wife and I, we only require 1 bed. I'd be interested to see what's the average occupancy in DVC Studios.

Even if you do not have two beds, rest assurd that the newer sleeper sofas are quite comfortable. The new sofa models that DVC uses, utilizes straps instead of bars and springs to provide support to the mattress. This provides a much more forgiving and comfortable bed.

Hopefully, someone can answer which resorts have the new sleepers. I have seen them at SSR, AKL, and I believe VWL renovations include these as well.

Hi,

We were at VWL a couple of weeks ago and my Mom said the new sleep sofa was very comfortable.

We prefer the studios with one bed and a sofa. It really opens up the room, making it feel much more spacious. I also prefer sitting on a couch when relaxing in the room rather than sitting on a bed. But we don't have kids and so nobody has to sleep on the sofa bed, though I hear the new ones are pretty comfortable.

The studios have been great for us while DS has been young as he sleeps in a Pack and Play so we have lots of room.

Tested the sleeper sofa at AKL this past Sept and it was really comfortable.

We Prefer the one bed and sofa in the studio. It is much roomier and more comfortable for relaxing. The sleeper sofa is very comfortable.

We've never used the 2nd bed (OKW) or sleeper sofa in studios. I wish they had an option for a king bed in the studios although offering it only in a 1BR or larger is another incentive for a larger unit. As another posted, I wonder how many guests use just one bed.

The only time I consider a studio is when it is just DW and me. Add my DD and we get a one bdr, add any others and we get a 2 bdr. For just the two of us I prefer one bed and the sofa, opens up the room and I'd rather sit on a couch than a bed.

Well theres a lot of reviews of just how comfortable those sleeper sofas are. I may just have to reconsider. I have never used one, but I might talk to my husband about it for our next trip, especially since it will be a shorter one than the two we have taken in the past! Thanks ya'll.:)

The more "guaranteed" booking categories offered, the less chance overall that the Membership at large will be able to book what they really desire.

For instance, say you want a King bed in a studio for 8 nights, and that unit isn't available for 3 nights of your stay, you'd have to move...increasing costs and wait times at the front desk. Increasing dues.

I love the sleeper sofas if I'm there by myself - there isn't space taken up in a room for a second bed and I don't have to open the sofa, so there is a very comfortable place to sit in the room.

I would imagine it is the same for couples.

I don't believe there are ANY studios with a king bed. All the studios have queens. If a queen isn't sufficient, it might be better to stay at regular WDW resorts or book 1-bedrooms.

In my experience, the sleeper sofa at the Beach club was comfortable. We were recently at SSR, and the sleeper sofa was awful. I don't know if the SSR sofas were the old style, but they were not great.

Following up on what Chuck says, timeshares in general tend to have far fewer options for room types than do hotels. Timeshares are generally designed to keep all the rooms as full as possible, so they would have a problem if, say, 50% of the rooms had 1 king bed instead of sleeping accommodations for 4 people, and then 60% of the guests showed up and needed two beds. Also, they have an obligation to provide something for every person that bought a unit (or points there), so its easier if they have just one or a few types of rooms. With hotels, if there is something in particular you wanted and it isn't available ( a non-smoking room, say), then you can just stay somewhere else. With a timeshare, the owners would be very unhappy with that because they've already paid for their room.

We'll if we do decide to rent points, I will be wanting to stay at AKL, the pics I have seen of the studios are awesome looking, so maybe thier sleeper sofas will be very comfortable for my husband!!:rotfl:

We're a family of four and I LOVE the bed/sleeper sofa combo. It makes the room feel so much roomier/less cluttered and more like a "home". I do NOT like being in bed with street clothes on or lounging on a bed during the day, so it's great to have a couch to sit on. Between the couch and the balcony, we've got plenty of room during the day to sit and read/watch TV/check email etc.

I would not like 2 beds in the studios at all.

We much prefer the sofa. I really hate coming home after a long day and only having a stiff chair or a bed to try and relax on.

The reason they put a double sleeper sofa in the studio with the queen sized bed was because they couldn't fit another queen sized bed in the studio. All the studios built after OKW are smaller than the OKW studio. And they couldn't put one queen bed and one double bed because it would look strange and still crowded. And they would never get by with two double beds in the other studios. Members would have a fit.

DH and I are spoiled with the one bedroom but do stay in studios from time to time. I much prefer having a queen bed and a sofa sleeper to having two beds. It gives us much more room and a nicer feel to the room. Two beds to me makes it much more like a hotel room.
