Just wondering. Arent the cat 5s up on deck 7, where the cat 6s are on deck 6?
The kids deck is on deck 5 so I think more families would want to be closer to deck 5.
What am I missing here? Whats up with the cat 4s?

Cat 4's are a bit larger than the Cat 5 & Cat 6. The Cat 4's can hold 5 people instead of 4.

IMHO, there is no reason to pay extra for the Cat. 5. Cat. 6 is the same size, only difference is deck & location on the deck. We were on Deck 5, the first room past the aft elevators, and it could not have been more perfect.

We will soon be on our 4th cruise with DCL. The first two we had Cat. 11 and the last one and upcoming one we have Cat. 5. I tried both times to get Cat. 6 but they were always gone when I booked (usually 18 months out). I did notice that right before the 60 day mark this time there were Cat. 6's available but we have others traveling with us on deck 7 so we decided to keep the Cat. 5. I would perfer the Cat. 6 and save a few $ considering it is the same stateroom with just 1 deck difference. Nasi

It has always amazed me that many people will pay extra to be on a higher deck...that is the only reason that a Cat. 5 costs more than a 6. As you say, the kids clubs are on deck 5, so if you have little ones, it makes a lot of sense to be there. And even though hubby and I do not have kids, deck 5 is still my favorite. I like to be as close as possible to the water, and 5 is the lowest deck with verandah staterooms. I've never understood why higher is considered better. Disney has designed that deck so well that you'd never even know the kids clubs are there...they are far enough away from the staterooms so that there is no noise or disturbance. IMHO, deck 5 is the best, and stateroom 5650 is the best of the best (although the secret porthole rooms are another deck 5 bonus).

Bingo - another vote for Deck 5 AFT and Category 6!

So please get out of MY stateroom and find another one!!!

I like the category 5's because they are higher on the ship. I like being closer to decks 9 and 10, because that's where I tend to spend most of my time while on board. Also, deck 7 has fewer staterooms than deck 6, so, I like the fact that there's less traffic. So, if cost were the same, I'd choose deck 7/cat. 5.

BUT....cost isn't the same, so lately we've gone for category 7 on deck 7. I really don't miss the regular verandah, the Navigator's verandah is fine with me. I guess I'm just partial to deck 7, although now that I'm a father, I'll have to consider deck 5.

I always get the feeling that people think those who book Cat. 5 just don't know any better, but people do have reasons for their preferences. In our case, I am VERY sensitive to noise and like to minimize my chances of being disturbed...since there are only staterooms both above and below, deck 7 tends to be very quiet. The cost was worth it TO ME.

We are in a cat. 5, not by choice, but that all cat. 6 rooms were sold out when we booked 9 months out. Hopefully next cruise we can get room 5622 and take it away from Rae!!!

Over my dead shrimp, Andy!
