Why would you pick Boardwalk over Y&B Club resort?

Just curious what your reasons were? I am patiently waiting for a disney visa pkg code to come out and book our May trip. I first had 2 rooms booked at POP, then the teens said no to coming, I then booked AKL 1 room for the 3 of us, now DH has decided that the teens must come as they are getting older and he wants to have a couple more family trips before it's too late.

So I would normally just switch to the Poly but I want to have an open mind when/if a good code comes out to take what we can get at a good price.

Thanks

Although they are both fine resorts and we have stayed at both, we preferred Boardwalk. With teens, the pool at Y&B wasn't as important and was really crowded. The lobby at Yacht was cramped and honestly, we just liked being on the other side at Boardwalk where there seemed to be more going on for the teens.

I've enjoyed both equally. true there is more to do on boardwalk side but I also like sitting on the beach and the view from the beach club side. If I had to choose now I'd pick Boardwalk just because we haven't been there in a while.

Depends on what you are looking for. We prefer the Boardwalk because it is always hopping. If your teens are like mine, nighttime is their best time, and there is so much going on at night. That being said, you can always walk over to the Boardwalk if you stay at the BC/YC.

Although the yacht club's nautical decor was very nice, it seemed a little 'upper crust'. The boardwalk, while also luxurious, had a more upbeat feel. Also, it's nice to sit on the huge elevated porch and watch the people and boats go by on the boardwalk.

We love the Yacht Club because it is so much quieter than the Beach Club, we stayed there for 4 days last Oct and had a fantastic time. We had the quiet pool and spa to ourselves every day.

This Oct we are going to give BW a try. They also have a quiet pool and spa and we love the Epcot location. I would have been fine going back to YC but DH wants to eventually try out all the deluxe resorts.

I prefer to the Boardwalk to the Yacht & Beach Club mostly because of the pool area. I don't like that Stromalong Bay is right along the walkway/boardwalk around crescent lake, the sandy bottom thing does not appeal to me and it always looks so cramped.

Thanks for sharing your reasons. The more I think about it the more I figure more than likely if a code comes out it seems like Y&B Club usually has availability compared to BWI. I can't make up my mind whether to just book the Poly or hold out and take what I can get.:confused3 I do have to cancel AKL b/c we exceed the max of 4.

We are a family of five and stayed at the BC two years ago. Our boys loved the pools there, both SAB and the quiet pools. Also, we had enough space for all to sleep comfortably with 2 Q beds and the daybed. That said, we now could not comfortably sleep there as our older son wouldn't fit on the daybed anymore as he's grown taller. Not sure how you all sleep on vacations but, the first thing for me is comfort.

I think with adults and teens, the BWI is a great choice. There is a lot happening on the boardwalk from entertainment to restaurants to shopping to ESPN Club to dancing to renting surrey bikes. Lots to do and see. And you can walk to Epcot each night for a great dinner. You can watch the night shows at both Epcot and MGM and then just walk/boat back to BWI. Having said all that, the standard rooms at BWI are not as large as the Poly standard rooms. Just wanting to make sure you pre-know that fact.

If you're planning on getting five into a room, I would not stay at the BWI. The daybed is tiny; I think the largest person you could fit on that bed would be a small child.

I personally prefer the BWI over the YC/BC. SAB is an amazing pool, but I prefer the atmosphere and decor of the BWI more than I like SAB.

We love the BCV. In October I got a great deal on a BWV and I stewed about it for months. I really wanted to go back to the BC, mainly for its proximity to the International Gateway at Epcot.
Well we loved the Boardwalk. Yes the walk to Epcot was a bit longer, but the walk to the Studios was much shorter. The theme pool at the BW was fine, although I still love SAB more.
As others have said there is lots going on on the Boardwalk at night and I think your teens will enjoy that a lot. It is a great deal of fun.
We stayed at the Poly last year and I loved it. The rooms were very large, the grounds are beautiful. The pool was nice, although crowded at times and the convenience of the Monorail was great. We walked to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. I would definitely stay at the Poly again, but my heart is at the YC/BC.
The rooms are smaller than at the Poly, however there are Deluxe rooms at the BWI which sleep 6. There is a "sitting area" with a pull out couch as well as a bedroom with 2 Queen beds. I don't know the cost, but maybe that would work for you.
Have a Great Trip

I guess I didn't realize that the size of the rooms would be much smaller than the Poly. I will say that with the Poly we just make it, size wise. I mean the 2 teens fit one bed, then DH and I in another and the 7 year old on the daybed and even with keeping packing down to a minimum it's just enough room for us. I am always looking for an excuse to broaden our horizons and try an Epcot resort and then end up talking myself out of it. That's kind of why I figured I would let the discounts (if any) make that decision for us. Although, I must admit I am very tempted to call AAA monday and book the Poly with dining package b/c of the measly extra $25 gift card for booking with them in January.

BWI is in desperate need of renovations. Our room was huge (one of those weird shaped, extra large rooms) but the carpeting, wallpaper and overall decor needed updating.

I would stay at YC over BWI.
