Why would you NOT do single rider on FJ?

Just a tip, unless you have really little kids, do NOT hesitate to use the single rider line for Forbidden Journey.

The ride is SOOO immersive that you can't interact with your seatmates anyway (and they wouldn't want you to!)

Plus, when we rode as single riders, we were only separated by one car at most. They were loading at least one or 2 people from the single rider line onto every car. So in one case, we were able to sit together anyway.

In the odd case that you may be separated by a few cars, they unload so fast that your buddies will be only seconds behind you.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it for anybody who may be hesitant to separate from their parties. It's a non-issue for this ride, in particular. And with the lines as they are, you'll need all the help you can get! :thumbsup2

I'll give you two reasons.

  1. You want to buy the picture.
  2. It's the first and only time you plan on riding FJ. The singles line skips almost all the que. You want to see the entire castle at least once.

I've never bought a picture from a theme park in my life, but my parents LOVE getting the pictures. They also want to get the DVDs that are available at Rip, Ride Rockit (despite me trying to talk them out of it). They would HAVE to get a picture at Forbidden Journey when they come.

And I have to admit, some of the pictures they do get are fantastic. On thier last trip down this spring, they got a picture on log flume ride at Busch Gardens that is better than any "ad" I've seen for log flume rides. I was so impressed that I bought the picture myself and paid for the extra wallet sized ones.

You know what...you're right. We did the regular line first and did get to see the castle, so I didn't feel like I had missed anything for our time in the single-rider line.

But honestly, when we did wait in the full-castle line we had the *pleasure* of spending most of the queue outdoors in the greenhouse, which was less-than-pleasant. By the time we did get into the castle, the line moved FAST. Didn't get to enjoy much of it anyway. Very odd the way that works.

Never even thought of the ride photos, we don't usually look at them. But it's a good point for those who do.

I would go through the reqular que once to see the inside of the castle. I don't understand why the line moves the way it does, stalls outside and then flies inside so you can't see what you want to see.

I rode the single rider line and saw several families doing it as well. The only problem is that it might get like RRR where whole families go into it so the line is just as long of a wait as the regular que.

Yes, some might wonder this, but there are some reasons to wait in the standby line. Seeing the castle, which I've heard is amazing; being with family, some of our best family memories are while waiting in lines; and some might buy the picture.

My sister and I did single rider for the first time just because we were so ANXIOUS to ride it!!!!!!! When I go back with my parents, we'll wait in the standby line.

Would you think a brave 9 year old (loves/rides all the rides at Hersheypark) would be old enough?

I love the single rider line at Forbidden Journey. It's a huge lifesaver for me

Totally agree... while our wait was a short 30 minutes... 90% of it was in the greenhouse... and then we were rushed through the rest of the castle barely getting to see the "shows".

I LOVE the single rider line on any ride! We use it with MIB, Spiderman and ROTM. We also use it on Test Track at Epcot. A few years ago, we also used it on TSM, but they got rid of the single rider line. I also seem to remember doing single rider on Space Mountain before the refurb, but maybe I am dreaming that>:confused3 Oh, and we used it on FJ this trip. I could care less about the picture or the inside of the castle(that is just me)

We used the single rider line when my nephew was 8(he was the youngest). We just made sure one adult went first, so they'd be at the exit waiting, then the kids, then another adult. It worked really well, and cut down on our wait times.

I totally agree! The single rider line is the way to go! The first time I rode the Forbidden Journey I wanted to experience all of the Hogwarts castle queue, so I decided to wait it out.. The wait time was posted at 120 min when I was there (day after grand opening at around 9:30 in the morning.) but it went by in about 60min. But the line moves so quickly that it didn't even feel that long especially with the great queue decorations.

The second time I rode the FJ, I went as a single rider and got through the line in about 15-20min but that includes a brief period of down time.

The single rider line drops you off in the DaD room so you don't miss too much but, if I recall correctly you'll miss Dumbledore, Harry, Ron and Hermione's speech - which has some pretty cool realistic effects ;-) (won't spoil it for those who haven't been in the line yet).

Mine just turned 9 year old loved this ride. He was a little scared before getting on, but came off wanting to do it again. I wouldn't do the single line with him unless he is very coordinated and doesn't get flustered.

As far as the single rider line, they are going to have to figure out a way to handle the chaos of getting into the chairs. It is possible to just go on whatever car you want and screw people up. The single rider who was suppose to ride with us went somewhere else. They just send you out to the conveyor belt and assume you'll do what you are told. They are at the mercy of people because it doesn't seem like a ride you can stop and reorganize people. Theoretically, people will take advantage and combine up with their friends from the single line once they hit that conveyor belt.

If everyone takes your advice then the single rider line becomes as long or longer than the regular one. That happened to us at HRRR.
