4 times when the first two times you were told you had the wrong number?

Once, okay easy, someone misdialed.

Twice, okay easy, someone dialed correctly, but was given the wrong number.

But TWO *MORE* times??

I know how you feel!
We get the same callers over and over.

"Hi is Christine there?"
No sorry, you have a wrong number.

RING RING
"Hi is Christine there?"
No, you still have a wrong number.

RING RING
"Can I talk to Christine?"
Nope, she still doesn't live here.

Or my son's favorite--

"Hi, is this Harry's You Pull-It?"
No, sorry wrong number.

RING RING
"Hi. Harry's You Pull-It? I need a bumper for a 1987 Ford Aerostar."
Excuse me, sorry, this still isn't Harry's You Pull-It.

We get those same two calls over and over. It gets a bit old.

we don't get many wrong numbers on our home phone, but i get this lady who calls my voicemail on my cell phone. i have no idea how she gets right into my voicemail, but she does. she will leave these ultra long-winded messages on there...she rattles on and on about what she's watching on tv or her medication or whatever. i've tried to call her, but since she's going right to my voicemail, my cell phone doesn't have the number stored as a missed or incoming call! my voicemail clearly says BRANDIE. yet she's always greeting "me" as "jan"...

I get phone calls for an international business. I really enjoy it when the people insist they have the right number. Or when an exec calls and asks who is this and why are you answering the phone that way? My answer, who is this and how do you answer your phone?

When we lived in Huntsville, Alabama our number was VERY similiar to the 'police academy'. This is apparently where the media calls to get information.

One of my 'better' calls was late at night (woke me up) from some reporter DEMANDING to know if the child molester had been arrested. Even though he was informed that he had reached a wrong number, he kept on demanding - as he had a deadline to meet. I was very temped to just make something up to get him off the phone, but I finally just hung up on him as he just couldn't get it that HE had dialed a wrong number.

Just don't get me started as to why I have such a low opinion of 'journalists'.

Our number used to be "Active Landscape" and apparantly they went out of business with no forwarding number. When we first got the number we got at least 5 calls a day. Now (9 months later) we still get a few a week.

Hello

Active Lanscape?

No they no longer have this number

Really? Whats is there new number?

I have no idea

Really? Do you know where I could get their new number?

ARGH!!!!! Of course not!

Then theres the people who assume Im Active Landscape even when I just answer the phone Hello..

Hi, can I have whoever orders your supplies...

Ummmmm, well that would be me except I purchase them myself at the market.... I think you want the Landscape company that used to have this number...

We also are just one number away from the police dept and we get at least one call a week

Most of the time, the people just say..Oppps sorry this isnt the police dept is it?

Nope sure isn't!

But routinely we get "Hi I was trying to find out about so and so who got arrested..when can I come and pick him up?"

:D I used to have this woman call my house about three times a week for "Collette". Sorry, Collette doesn't live here just like I told you last time you called. How many times do I have to tell you before you stop calling me  ?! This woman was probably the person who called my house the most times each week (more than my mom, dh's mom, friends, etc.) and she wasn't even calling for any of us!

I've had that happen to me ... except it happened to me in the middle of the night from someone overseas who didn't speak a word of English. I eventually gave up and took the phone off the hook.

Same thing happened to us. We tried explaining that Shari didn't have this phone number. We tried letting it roll to voice mail which clearly says Jeff and Jessica, and they would leave messages for Shari. My DH even called them back (same number on caller ID EVERY time!) and asked for Shari. When they said she was out, DH said to tell her to stop giving out our number as hers!

The only thing that worked for us was to have that number blocked from coming through. The phone company helped us do it. No calls for Shari anymore.

Ok I've got one for you:) This guy calls our house 3 times asking for John. I tell him "Sorry you have the wrong number" On the third time he says "Listen to this message and tell me what phone number John left" Then he plays the phone message for me. Since he was an older gentleman I listened and tried to help him. It did sound like my number the first time. I had him replay it and decided instead of "Oh five" he was saying "four five". Never did find out if it was the right number but he didn't call me back again:)
About 10 years ago we kept getting phone calls for a Sue (don't remember last name) Finally someone called and stated it was an emergency and to please call xxx-xxxx as soon as she received the message. Well I called the number. Told them that the number they had was wrong and I had no idea who this person was. My answering machine VERY CLEARLY stated our name and the number they had reached!

For the past couple of weeks we have had some bill collector who calls our house asking to speak to Adira Evans (or however you spell it). DH say there is no Adira who lives here. The man/woman ask are you sure? DH is like yes I'm quite sure, I know who lives in my house Duh!! Then they go we show you house number as being the Evans residence. DH say yes this is the Evans residence but no one by the name of Adira lives here (DH is James, my name is Kim, DD is Amani and DS is Jordan) So he/she hangs up. TWO minutes later they call back with the same spill. DH gets very flustered because they call at least four to five times a day while he's trying to sleep (DH works at night). So about a week ago he had, had it up the wazoo with them and told them if you call my house again I'm going to file harrassment charges against your company. Ever since then they have stopped.

In our area there are 2 exchange that are only one number apart. We are 398-XXXX and there is also 392-XXXX. We frequently get calls for Kristi or Nina at the other number. The kids went to the same daycare and are close in age so we tell them to call 392. I wonder how many calls they get for our kids.
