Why would you buy a large add on?

Assuming that you are not willing to buy 110 points in order to get an incentive, why would you buy anything but 25 point contracts (50 if you finance)?

Small contacts sell more easily and at higher prices than larger ones.

That's been my general philosophy... small add-ons direct from DVC.

Simply because you may desire specific villas at a specific resort for the 11 month booking advantage and it does not require 110 points. The incentives offered most often don't make it worth while in comparision to the extra money spent to reach the point requirement for those incentives.

Maybe not the 25 pointers. I think 50-100 point contracts are about right, since they can eat up the closing costs. I mean, who wants to add $15/pt just to cover closing?? 100 pointers will still sell quick, and absorb the closing.

Just my thoughts... :smokin:

I was able to get $4 more per point for a 25 pt VB contract ($76) than I was able to get for a 50 pt VB contract ($72).

Both were sold in September of 2007 and both were sold through TTS. :thumbsup2

One reason, which we had and bought a "new" member size contract, was to get a second use year month so we could play the banking/cancellation hedge for all trips by choosing which contract to use depending on the different times per year that we go.

We've got 2 UY's too... and I just learned (thanks to smart members here)... that gives me 2 opportunities to transfer in points! Never done that... but sure seems like having more points is a nice option!:thumbsup2

I wouldn't break my add-on into really small contracts like 25 points. If I wanted 200 points I would probably do 50x4 or more likely 80, 50, 60- giving me options if/when I choose to downsize. My reasoning is simply that I wouldn't buy a 25 pt. resale because of high pt. cost and proprtionately lg. ccs. So to me, it would seem that there is probably a better market for small resale contracts vs. teeny tiny contracts.

I have to admit, we really don't have an exit strategy either.

In fact, I want to get to 1000 points.

Our largest add on is 150 at VB. The others range from 25 to 100 and on the member site, they are not listed in the order we bought them. DVC's decimal system leave lots to be desired. There's a ______.1, and a ________.10 and as a math teacher, I must say that those represent the same number.

The question is "why buy a large add on" well, we didn't but I do wish our add ons could be consolidated into .0, .1, .2, .3 and .4....we have 5 home resorts, and it would be a help to be able to see at a glance just how many we have in a resort for a UY.
