Why would two cop cars & K9 unit be across the street?

I was looking out my dining room window, and noticed not one but TWO cop cars across the street. Thinking it was a street, or snow issue, I didn't really notice.

Then I noticed the K9 dog and the cop working. The cop gave the dog what looked like a piece of fabric and the dogs went up and down the sidewalk, and a little up the driveway. The dog didn't go nuts or dig under the bushes or on the street.

My dogs noticed that dog, and rushed to the back door.... to be let out. I was opening the door, and asked the officer if it was ok to let my dogs out... he said thank you for asking and it was fine to do.

Of course, my two were having a grand old time communicating with the K9 German Shepard.

Eventually, the doggies all settled down and the two cop cars went along thier merry way.

Now there was one person that lived there when the cops were there at the house, shoveling snow and walkways, and was brushing off his car. The person (don't know who it was, since he was all bundled up) didn't seem to mind the cops there.. if he did, he didn't act it...

So what is going on across the street? Any guesses?

They were looking for someone. Maybe a suspect was last seen in that area.

YIKES! You aren't supposed to say that!!!!

I was kind of hoping that they were looking for "organic material".

Was this a bakers apron?

Maybe they were looking for a donut shop :) :bounce:

Krispy Kreme anyone?

We had something similar a couple years ago across the street from us. Turned out a young woman was home alone and heard a noise in the house. She had a psycho ex-boyfriend and she was scared that it was him and called the police. We had a total of 4 sheriff's cars and a couple dogs scoping out the house and surrounding area. They didn't find anyone.

Sometimes it could be a training day. This same thing happened near my church last spring. I went out to my car and to my dismay there were two cruisers and a dog, tracking away quite happily. Found out they were just keeping the dogs 'fresh'. Have to say that my stomach sure dropped when I saw them. Maybe they could have had a big TRAINING banner on their car or something.
