Why would they outlaw texting while driving?

Do we lack that much common sense that someone needs to tell us it is wrong to drive a 1 ton killing machine down the road while we are typing???

Yes, apparently we do as I see people doing it EVERY SINGLE DAY. In fact they are investigating the train accident in California because they think the engineer may have been texting and didn't see the red light.

"common" sense ain't so common.... and outlawing it won't really make a difference; people will still do it

I agree, i still see people cell phoning it all the time while driving and that's supposed to be illegal.

Depends on where you live - not illegal to cell and drive here but 8 miles up the road where the California border is it becomes illegal. Adults over 18 can cell if using a hands free device, teens under 18 cannot.

Common sense tells us our eyes should be on the road, but think of all the things you see people doing in their cars everyday.....eating, reading, applying makeup, curling their hair etc......
