Why would my 16 year old daughter be having hot flashes?

I always have hot flashes right before or during my period. My md didn't think it was a big deal. Its just part of the package. lol

If your worried though, you might as well call.

I've had the same thing, and passed out 3 times from it. All 3 times it was when my blood sugar was low. Hadn't eaten anything for awhile, etc.

I predict that your doctor is going to want to search widely -- blood sugar, hormone levels, time of the month, infections, allergies. Anything unusual should be checked to rule out something serious. A vasovagal reaction (sometimes leads to fainting) can feel like a hot flash -- the next time she has a hot flash, you should try to check her pulse to see if it drops, and get her to elevate her feet and put on a cold compress (I know you can only do one of those things at a time). Good luck.

Mrs. Homie (41) has been having hot flashes for a couple of years now. I remember one in particular: we were driving down the highway in the dead of winter, and the temperature outside was maybe 10 degrees. Out of nowhere she screams "Oh my God I'm hot!!!!!" Next thing I know all four windows are down and she's hanging halfway out the window.
