Why,why, why do people bring kids to Las Vegas?

I will try to protect myself from the strollers! They just better not be in my way when I make a beeline to the casino. Watch out kids, a gambling, drinking sinner is coming through and taking no prisoners!

I need to add my 2 cents to this thread as I'm Snoozan's twin and went with her on this trip! The worst sight we witnessed was seeing a stroller with a small baby in it, sitting in the very smoky casino, with the baby's father playing away on a slot machine. Obviously, security hadn't caught up with him at this point....I only hope they noticed him and got him out of there pronto. Just doesn't make sense that parents can enjoy LV with kids with them. Would have been a totally different trip if I had brought my kids, and they are 19 and 22! Guess it's Disney from now on if I want to vacation with my twin! :rotfl:

Spekaing of the Bellagio Gods, I will be staying for the first time at the Bellagio next week, 11/8-11/12. My DH has a convention that is being held there, so I am tagging along. I will report back on my stay!
Have a great time!

Bellagio is my favourite! :)

I was all excited when the Venetian opened up but I like the Bellagio better.

it sounds like I really enjoy Vegas Im really not that big of a fan of the place, but it does have it highlights.

Hey! I'm not a true DISer - now that I know there's rules, I'll follow them. ;) (Though, you know, if Bellagio posted them on the doors or something, it'd be nicer!) I will, however, be using the stroller to block off a nice big space for me to watch the fountains. And they better put on a good show after being cancelled last time!

Get a room there, fountain view! :goodvibes

I've taken my now teen son to New Orleans (before Katrina :( ) and I would love to take him to Vegas. DH gambles but I don't so DS and I could find plenty to do.

The trouble is that there just isn't much in cities for teens to enjoy that's unique and different. We love Universal and Disney but beyond that, I don't know.

I think we want to stay at the Wynn next time. GORGEOUS looking hotel. And DH watched a program on Steve Wynn destroying stuff in Vegas and now needs to stay at the namesake. He loves people who make a big show of blowing stuff up.

I hate the comment " Vegas isn't for kids - take them to Disney" . I do take my kids to Disney - qite often at that. I also take them to Myrtle Beach, Virginia, Ohio, California and Oh Yes - Vegas.

My 9yo has been to Vegas more times than many of our friends. He can name every casino and attraction out there and loves every minute of his trips. He has been to see all of the Cirque shows multiples times, Blue Man Group, and now Phantom. We go to Vegas 3-4 times a year. Some of those trips are adults only and some we bring the family .

We spend the days with the kids doing fun stuff such us Hoover Damn, Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon, we go for the Nascar race also every year. We have close family friends who we visit. We hang at the pool all day and just have a very fun relaxing time. At night our babysitter ( who we bring with us) will watch the kiddos while DH and I have a nice dinner and do a little gambling or go see a show.

We stay at some of the nicest hotels TheHotel at Mandalay bay ( our new home), Signature MGM, Paris (hated it), Wynn, and Bellagio along with many others. We are always treated with the utmost respect ( better be for the prices you pay) and my kids are very well behaved. My kids aren't sat in a corner while I gamble, they aren't walking through casinos at 2 in the morning so I don't see the problem.

Kids will always be in Vegas wether you want them them are not ! Sorry they won't ever be banned ! Get used to it.

I am a Proud Vegas Parent !

You go girl!

Same here. Have taken my kids to Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Austria, England, Spain, Croatia, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bosnia (Sarajevo), Holland and various places in the US (Florida, California and Vegas). And I definately do take them to Disney. My 4 year old has been to DL, WDW and DLP!

Proud to be a travelling parent, hoping to show my kids ALL the world has to offer!

Well, I have a warning for all you Vegas parents:

No Kidding, the national organization for childfree people, is talking about having its annual convention in Vegas next year! :teeth:

Why would I need a warning for that? All it means, is that there´s a lot more space for my 2 strollers :thumbsup2

 Horrible parent checking in! I took my kids to Vegas, heck we took them to see the early show of Sirens at TI too!! :stir: They were 8, 3, 10 months.

My three at the Venetian - their happy place outside of Disney.

DD(4) decided after that trip that she wants to move to Vegas and work there, it's her dream.

We stayed at MGM with them, and two nights at the Venetian. For the Saturday night we were there we moved out to Lake Las Vegas though for some quiet.

They LOVED LOVED LOVED Vegas to the point of being pissed when DH and I took a parent only trip in August. I think they were mostly mad because they were missing out on the In-N-Out burgers :smooth: DH and I took turns going to the casinos at night while we were there and we made sure the kids were in bed at a normal time. On our parent only trip I was shocked at how many people were out at midnight with little ones on the strip! Our first trip I just didn't see the strip at midnight. We were back in the room by 9!

Sounds like your kids know a good party when they see one! ;)

And then some! But they're used to seeing half naked women on billboards in Europe so the drivebys in Vegas were nothing.

But yes, they thought Vegas was a huge party and any place that comes to their room and makes their beds for them and leaves chocolates behind then brings extras up a little bit later is heaven in their books. When they got into the room and the beds were turned down with chocolates their eyes glazed over, when the guys showed up 10 minutes later with a stack of boxes of chocolates they thought it was christmas. Now every hotel they stay in gets compared to the Venetian!

That's one of my favorite parts too!!!

My in-laws live in Vegas and are older, FIL is 86yr old, they don't like to travel that much anymore.

So this coming spring we are taking the kids to see them. (They usually come to Chicago to see us.)
We are staying at a resort off the strip. There are plenty of family orientated things to do in Vegas and the surrounding areas.
We will be taking our kids to Hoover Dam for their tour, and to Red Rock Canyon. Lots of In -N- Out burgers too!! :thumbsup2
And lots of time spent with Grandpa and Grandma. :goodvibes

Would I take them there if my in-laws DIDN'T live there????? NO WAY!!! :teeth:

It doesn't bother me when people bring kids to Vegas, but what really bothered me was at 3 a.m. in the Venetian an obviously drunk father was pushing his infant from table to table running the stroller into pretty much everything in the vacinity while the poor baby tried to sleep. That was pretty ridiculous.

I haven't read all the replies but will add my opinion and experience.

We took our DD to Vegas last summer (05) when she was almost 10. She had a great time there. There are so many fun things to see and do for kids. She has asked several times when we can go back.

I agree that there are things that aren't child appropriate, but they are easily avoided. I see nothing wrong with bringing the kids as long as you keep that in mind.
