Did some of you even READ her post? She said it was AN ANNOYANCE! She also said she expected the milk because they had it at AS - she really hasn't made a big deal out of it!! And if they include icees as part of the refillable drinks then she DIDN'T get what she paid for if they aren't available more often then not. She should "apreciate"(sic) the icees she was able to get? It's not like they graced her with a free icee. We never buy the mugs because we aren't in the resort enough to get our money's worth - but DH LOVE's icees and that would be the only reason we would consider buying them. We would be annoyed as well if they only worked 1/3 of the time we were there.
And the problem wasn't the line at check in - she needed to check her luggage to go out and enjoy the rest of her last day. A service that Disney supposedly offers - but apparently doesn't staff properly.
Honestly - it just seems like some people are so quick to jump up and defend anything the least bit negative about a WDW resort - without even reading what happened. The OP didn't bash Disney - she related her experience and how it didn't jive with her expectations. The whole purpose of these boards is to exchange information and experiences to help other people know what to expect. You can take it with a grain of salt - but don't tell people they're wrong to be disappointed in something. It sounds to me like the luggage issue in particular is a major problem - and something I would definitely rather be prepared for before I go if I was going to stay there.
As far as I have seen, no one has condemned her for being disappointed in not having icees available 24/7 or not getting free milk (and no one said she bashed Disney). In fact, the majority of the posts on here are offering information on what is free and what is not free, what's included in the mug refill program and what's not. I'd hardly take that as as telling people what they are and are not allowed to be disappointed. There are only a few posts that are defensive and it's not coming from those who are sharing information on the program....
Honestly, I do believe people should appreciate this service because they can cancel it at any time they want and then you'd be spending a lot more money. Not too many places over continuous free refills for buying one mug. There are millions of people who pass through the WDW resorts whom they can make pay for every single drink, and yet they are willing to offer the purchase of one mug and you get free drinks for using it. That's incredibly generous. For those who have never worked in business, or retail, or anything else...it might be difficult to see that is a good offer. That said, when you wind up getting more for free than what you actually paid for...regardless if one of the things happens to be not available, then you did get what you paid for. If a mug were to cost $5 for example (I know that's not the price, I'm using it as an example), and you got $20 worth of free drinks, even if one certain drink wasn't available...you not only made up for what you paid for, but you also got a lot more for free. If you brought in a coupon to a store to get $40 of a $100 purchase and you bought a ton of stuff, but one thing you were interested in was out of stock...but you
still got the $40 off...would you say that you didn't get what you paid for? After all, the store advertises it, right? You have to think of it in terms of that. Reality is, the world does not have a supply of icees that would fill up all eternity. So take what you can get and move on. Learn and grow. It's one thing to be disappointed and move on...quite another to be up in arms about it. Its an
icee. In my personal opinion, just not worth dwelling on.
You said the whole purpose of these boards is to share and exhange information, which I agree. So when the OP shared her experiences at the POP, then why are you so quick to jump down the throats of those who were providing her with information about the mug program? I don't mind the OP sharing her experiences and I would hope that information on how to be better equiped with expectations wouldn't be shunned.
