Why was MVMCP tix and memory maker mailed to me?

We bought our MVMCP tickets and our memory maker thru My Disney Experience and linked to our reservation. Then it asked do you want to get your tickets at will call or ship to home. So we chose ship to home.
They came in the mail today and I a memory maker card and tickets for the party but I'm confused. I've never had tickets shipped to me or even a memory maker card. I've always used my band. Same with MNSSHP... Is this new or did I mess something up?

You didn't mess anything up. This just allows you to have the physical ticket.

You ordered them to be shipped to your home, so why are you confused that they did that?

Check your MDE. They should show up, so you can use your MBs, but have the tickets and card as backup.

I always have them shipped to my home. As long as they are linked, it doesn't mess anything up.

I'm not confused that it was sent to my home. I opted for that. Was just confused that was an option. I've never linked to a reservation/magic band and then had it ask how I want it shipped. I just wanted to be sure it's linked to my band still. I will call to be sure.

If you had chosen "Will Call" they wouldn't have shipped you the tickets.

If you didn't want the tickets shipped, why did you choose that option?

I guess I'm not saying what I mean correctly. Yes I chose ship because it was that or will call. What I'm trying to say is that In the past everything linked to a magic band. I have never been given the choice to have it shipped to me or will call. Everything linked to the bands, nothing was shipped to me or picked up at will call

It's not a big deal, I was just curious.

The "stand-alone" ticket delivery choices have always been to ship or use will call.
(Party tickets have often had a "print at home" choice.)

Maybe you have always bought park tickets as part of a WDW resort package...
which are (basically) "will call" at the resort desk.

Having the physical cards for the MVMCP saved us in December. We get all the way to MK from POP and are about to walk into the party and my daughter realizes she forgot her magic band back at the hotel. We had a quick moment of panic there. Luckily my wife realized she had the physical cards in her purse and we were able to use them.

To further clarify, the better choice when ordering stand-alone tickets -from Disney- is to choose "will call."
Then, if you have and use a MB, you just never have to actually pick up the tickets at will call (ever.)
But, you COULD pick them up to use as MB "back-up" if you wanted to.
