Why think FP- system will be phased out?

I feel the Peter Pan line, like the Its a small world line moves fast.

Like a PP said, I too have received a survey I believe asking the same question about extra fp's for on site guests. I was excited about that but took it more as that they would hand us a booklet of passes at the beginning of our trip to use throughout our stay. Never thought it would be like this and having to claim our rides a head of time down to the hour! Not too happy about having to pre plan our whole trip like that.

We tend to visit in Sept and the PP line is way longer than IASW...!

It should move fast but always has a ridiculous wait in our experience

I think people who are staying offsite should still be able to use some sort of FastPass. Some people (myself included) simply can't afford to stay onsite. I scrimped and saved to get us APs because it made more sense financially for us, so I guess at some point I'll get FastPass + access but I still think some form of it should be available to everyone.

Well this brings up an interesting point. At Universal you don't have access to their system unless you're staying at one of their hotels right? Don't they have a card or something that gets you to the front of every line that you can purchase if you're staying onsite? I don't know, never stayed there, haven't been there in years.

I see this mentioned more and more lately. Have there been any mentions of how off site Disney guests would access FP+?

Unlimited express pass is given to guests of the deluxe resorts there. It will not be given to guests of the future Cabana Bay resort. You can also buy unlimited EP. And you can buy limited EP with one ride per attraction.

None of it is fotl unless there is no one in front of you by coincidence. It's a short line, sure, but it's not fotl.

Sorry, I misspoke, I guess. I just meant don't they have a system that gets you into a shorter line, kind of like FP. Didn't mean FOTL. Can you buy that if you're not a resort guest there?

One thought I had, I don't know how the machines work at all, but is it possible that they could use the new FP+ machines for day of FP's to guests somehow, and also use it for the prescheduled FP+'s? Or is something like that not possible?

I want to have the magical trip in Dec with my DD23 for her college graduation that we've been planning, and maybe we still will, but I'm afraid it's going to be very frustrating and less than magical! Disney is my favorite place to go but I'm definitely doubting that they care about guests having a magical day anymore!

There will be kiosks with iPads (Disney and their stinking love for apple) for same day FP^2 planning. It will also enable people without smartphones to make or change their FP^2.

Look, I think they should keep the old system myself, but you might as well embrace the changes. I can see several downsides, but by the same token, I may have to get a new phone and justify it with this.

AP holders with MB from a previous stay can already make FP+ even if staying off site. There is some suggestion from the boards that on-site guest may have 60+14 days to make FP+ instead of 60 days for people off site. So, yes, I believe that FP+ will be available to all guests and FP - will be phased out. Off-site guest may need to pay for MB access ( see Universal).

For all those complaining about making plans so early, just look at dining reservations. I have to get up at 6am 6 months early to make dinner reservations at Ohana (if I can get them), and this seems perfectly natural. Unfortunately, a trip to Disney will require more and more planning. Fortunately for me, I have DIS boards!

Peter Pan typically has one of the longest waits and is a slow loader.

Does anyone have a listing of where the FP Legacy machines are still located in the 4 parks? We'll be there in Nov. and as a 1st time visitor, I was hoping to experience the Legacy machines. Hopefully they won't all be gone. :scared:

Otherwise, in actuality it is a big downgrade for all customers.

I see why you're upset, but with this, I disagree. I love the way the new system is set up and can't wait to try it.

I've ridden TSM once in the last 5 years because the line is always 90 mins long. :/ I can never get there early enough to get a FP for it, cause we are not early risers. Now, I actually have the ability to ride it this trip!!

I see why a lot are not happy, but it's not considered a downgrade by me.

The fast pass machines at HM seemed to come and go over the years. We used fast pass there last year but it wasn't there on a previous visit.

Sorry, but there were no FP machines at HM last year or the previous year.
You must be confusing it with something else.

Rumour is that FP+ will go officially live on December 1, so they may be aiming to phase out legacy FP by that date

1- Rumour is that FP+ will go officially live on December 1,

2- so they may be aiming to phase out legacy FP by that date

1- Maybe. Just one of many, many rumors.

2- Unlikely by Dec. 1, regardless of start of FP+ going live.

Disclaimer: Anything is possible. Anything.

Not all Disney resort guests have access to FP+. We are staying onsite in December for 3 weeks at 4 different resorts and have been told that we cannot choose our FP+ until we arrive.

We are from the UK and bought our PAPs over the phone from Disney so all we have is a will call number which won't link to MDE. I was told by a CM at IT that the old FP system will still be around for at least a year so if it is true that they have started to remove the old FP- machines I will be a very unhappy bunny!

I am so frustrated with the whole thing that I am not even looking forward to going anymore!

The new system just doesn't fit with our style of vacation (laid back, non-planners who sleep in and don't have a smart phone) and if it remains as it is we are done with Disney for good!

OK, I'm lost. Isn't Peter Pan down for refurb? If it's not, it will be very soon.

I believe FP- is definitely going away, but it has to stay available until offsite and day guests have a means of accessing FP+.

No one checking-in in Dec has access to FP+ yet, and I wouldn't put ANY stock in what CM are saying. I would keep checking your MDE webpage. Do you have everything linked?

We were there two weeks ago, and ALL the legacy FP machines that are typically available and operational were still there.

If they have started taking them out it must have been in the past 14 days, and this is news to me.
