Why the two extra Star Wars films?

Why the two extra Star Wars films?

If the Empire is stupid enough to keep building Death Stars, then there definitely needs to be movies of the various Skywalker clan members who keep popping up to destroy them...

Disney paid a boatload of money for the franchise. Only makes sense that they would want to expand it in every way possible. The first way is by making sequels. Since the prequels were already made, it only makes sense to create spin-offs. Problem is, following the original cast members these days would be like watching retirees eat dinner. So, next best thing is to do original stories or background stories. This is no different than what they've done with Marvel, where you see movies and TV shows for individual characters and a show like Agents of SHIELD that kind of show what's going on in the background of these movies. People can't get enough Star Wars. To *only* make some sequels or live off the current material would be foolish.

Considering how many super hero movies are released every year, I don't think one Star Wars movie a year is too much. In fact, I'm really looking forward to this next one. We saw the Force Awakens on Christmas evening. My son rubbed his hands on his face after eating red candy and left the theater looking like a sith lord (not intentional,) a family story we will always laugh about. For us these Star Wars movies, which are scheduled to be released med-December for the next few years, will make a fun holiday tradition, though this year we might see it earlier during the Christmas season.

There is already a healthy spin off area with, books, comic, video games and TV series like "Star Wars Rebels" and the Lego Cartoons so a couple of extra films exploring other parts of the Wars universe, in My opinion, would be fab.

Oh and I missed one off, does anyone remember the Ewokes cartoon series - TV gold lol

Don't forget the Ewok Movie! "Battle for Endor". I wanted to be that little girl!!
