Why the Star Wars Hotel Failed

For us it wasn’t the price point. We are not into the whole role playing immersive experience. While Star Wars has a lot of fans when you start limiting by price point, role playing, and lack of story change your audience is limited. If it was a deluxe resort, with exclusive characters meets and dining options only available to those staying there we would have gone, probably more than once but role playing was a big no for us.

Well for one thing it wasn't really a hotel. There, I saved you four hours of your time. Go watch The Godfather Epic instead.

Also once Jenny pointed out the naming convention and how paid influencers use the full name (that no one ever uses casually) I have noticed it in so much content now. It's not Tron. They call it Tron- Lightcycle Run. Dead giveaway now that she pointed it out.
Although long, I thought the video was good and the above - calling things proper names - is really tangential, it is an interesting callout

They should just DVC this thing, cut out the "experience" and now you have a Star Wars themed DVC hotel with direct access to a theme park.

They would basically have to tear it down and start over, it has none of the amenities that DVC members are used to. It was never designed to be a hotel.

As I huge SW fan, I would have loved to have done it, but the value was not there for me. I could afford it, and chose not to spend the money.

It's got a total of 100 rooms, 94 of which aren't even the equivalent of a Deluxe Studio (like BPK as a stand-alone). The points chart would be ludicrous.

*Plus, the aforementioned lack of amenities.

I think her comparison to Spirit Airlines with the constant up-charges to Disney's current business model for the parks is spot on. If you look at this Disney Resorts commercial from 2015 compared to the parks in 2024 it is really sad how much we have lost while prices and add on charges continue to rise-

Watched it twice. Tears came to my eyes. :rotfl2:
