Why the difference in coupons available based on zip codes?

It seems that all of the coupon sites I have joined online offer nationwide manufacturers coupons based on my zip code - and only mine..

About a month ago, someone posted a link on here to some coupons (in another area of the country) and I found a number of coupons that I really needed and was able to print out and use - yet they weren't available based on my zip code..

Can someone explain why this happens - and how I can find all current coupons that are available outside of my zip code?

There are several specific coupons that I need on a weekly and/or monthly basis (two food-type items and 2 or 3 medically necessary items)..

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

I don't have any information that would help you but you are not alone in you're frustration! I see coupons from other states/stores and have been able to use those but now my local stores have changed their policy so I cannot use them anymore.

I have no idea, for sure. I am thinking its because some areas do not double at all. It seems like FLorida does not double coupona, so their coupons are a higher face value. I know one I print from alot is 90210... so California. Maybe things are more expensive there, so the coupons have a higher face value. I have no idea how you know what is out there... I just print what I see others have posted.... I am not sure if this is what you are askin, lol, its early... but its my 2cents..lol

Coupons, from a company's point of view, are a type of incentive, used to entice a customer to buy their product. Companies have a limited advertising budget and want to get their coupons in front of the greatest number of potential customers. Many of these choose to skip the “smaller market” papers and stick to putting their coupons in the “Big City” newspapers. Some even decide to put different value coupons in different areas of the country.

I don't know what the reasoning is when it comes to which coupons end up in which market. I know that the Smart Source insert for the Philly Inquirer is different than the one in the Delco Times. There are about 3 or 4 coupons each week that are in one that are not in the other.

And since almost all grocery stores in the Philly area double coupons up to 99 cents, you will find a lot of $1 off 2 coupons in our market but the same product in a non-doubling market will be 50 cents off 1. That's why the online couponing sites may have a better coupon for doubling in another zipcode from my own.

I can explain.

My wife works for a company which, in turn advertises in the coupon inserts you find in your local Sunday paper.

I've seen inserts for certain coupons/products from here at home (St. Louis), and inserts that were intended to go into papers in New York/New Jersey -- in the northeast, the coupon amounts tend to be more cents-off than those for the same items found here in St. Louis (because the product ends-up costing more in those areas, and the manufacturer is trying to give everyone an equal "deal").

Another reason may be because not all products are the same nation wide. I have lived in TX, NM, CO and PA. and they sell different brands in the north-east than they do in the south. Some things you can get one area of the country that are not even available in another!

I've been getting my coupons in the paper so please tell me what sites your all finding coupons. Epecially ones in So. calif

Arrrrrgh! The closest CVS up here is sooooooo far away, it wouldn't be worth the gas to go and get it.. Drats!! Ironically, DD just called me tonight from the grocery store and asked if I wanted them to buy my coffee down there (cheaper than the closest supermarket - even with a coupon) and I told her yes! How much is it on sale for? There's a CVS close to her house and if it's a good enough buy - even without coupons - I'll have her grab me some before they come up Friday night.. (Well - "if" they come up.. It's supposed to continue to rain here for the next 7 days..)

To everyone else who responded here, thanks so much for the info.. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - it seems like my "computer time" is shrinking more and more - I'm just too busy with other things to get online as often as I used to..

Interesting info regarding the manufacturers and their reasoning behind the zip codes.. I guess I'll just have to fiddle around with other zips and see what I can find.. That's legitimate - right? Don't want to be involved in anything that would be considered scamming..

It is 3/$10 for the 11.3 oz. size. (includes decaf)

I'm not sure if that is a good price or not since I don't drink coffee. But it sounded reasonable!
