Attended selected college, sight unseen; married spouse after just four months of dating; have made other life decisions without much thinking....SO why am I having such indecision about WL and POR??? Am I mental??? HELP!!!

You aren't mental mental. You're just Disney mental. It's just what planning a Disney vacation does to you. It can't be helped.:rotfl:

We've been going to WDW every year (sometimes more than once a year) for 10 years now and I always get stressed when picking our resort.

We've stayed at the CBR two years in a row and absolutely loved everything about it. It was wonderful! It was gorgeous! Bus service was great! Housekeeping was exceptional!

So.....now I'm looking into Port Orleans or Wilderness Lodge.

Do I really want to spend the extra $1,000.00 it would take to stay at Wilderness Lodge? Would the theming of Port Orleans be lost on someone from Louisiana?

See....it's not just you! It's all of us!

Wow...yeah I'm kinda disney mental myself...however, you can't go wrong with either.

Most around here are probably going to suggest WL...and based on what I know about it having stayed there only 1 night, I would concur. There's just something special about a deluxe, and the location is awesome...

there's nothing wrong with POR...althought I prefer the POFQ...they are both nice.

Good luck!

This is a personal favorite for us, we prefer the Poly, but their price increases have turned us off to them. To us its location, we like the Mk over the other parks and spend alot of time there and its the park that usually has the latest hours. Being on Bay Lake and having access to Seven Seas Lagoon to us is Disney. Boat ride to MK, boat ride to Cr to gain acess to monorail, 3 resorts and EPCOT transfer is ideal plus we enjoy the buffets at FW alot and its just a boat ride too. Other than AKL, which we have tried and do not like, WL is one of the cheapest deluxes on property and that being stated, we feel one of the most themed and well layed out resort. Just my thoughts but we're WL hooked for alot of reasons.

You are just like the rest of us. LOL I say save the extra money that WL costs and stay at POR. We stay at POR every year and love it. You can use the extra money you save for all the goodies you will want to take home. LOL

Sometimes planning can get quite indecisive...I know from experience. That being said, I have wanted to stay at WL for the past two trips, but ended up at POFQ and POR respectively...due to the price difference of them and the WL. I do enjoy the moderates, so I just figured I would save the extra $$$....But, finally I am going to stay at the WL, I caved in. I am going for it!!! :goodvibes

I have never stayed there before, but I have toured the property when I used to be a travel agent, and just absolutely LOVED it!

If I stay at a deluxe I usually space my trips out about every 2 years or so. If I stay at a mod, then I am able to go more....So, if the $$$$ is really not that big of a matter for you, then I would definately go for WL.

Just a side note...even though POR was quite a lovely resort, I prefered POFQ MUCH BETTER! (not to make you even more confused, but I wanted to mention that).

I wish you the best of luck in deciding, I know it is not easy by far!

:rotfl: We're so similar, I picked my college sight unseen and married my DH after only 3 months...now choosing a resort is another story!!

I've stayed at both. I liked both. I would love to stay at both again. Here are some pros and cons to help with your choice.

WL
Pros - Everything under one roof (therefore it's a quicker walk to get a drink or to the pool), proximity to MK and other resorts, beautiful themeing, transportation was very good.

Cons - More expensive, small counter service/food court.

POR
Pros - Beautiful theming, boat to DTD, price is (normally) less than WL, many choices at food court.
Cons - Transportation needs improvement, takes longer to walk to food court (which makes a difference when your legs ffel like they've been used as battering rams).

Hope this helps. I'd stay at either again in a heartbeat.

Because you're talking about a vacation at Disneyworld...nuff said!!!!:rotfl:

I'd go with whichever you are leaning towards. You may read a trip report on here about another resort you might like better and then you'll want to switch anyways ;). Unfortunately for our trip in May (which ended up cancellling due to sickness) I changed our resort 4 times. Now for our rescheduled trip I've only changed it once and I don't plan on changing it again! I finally went w/my gut feeling and picked the Poly. Good luck!

Oh, no worries about your sanity here....although I might not be the best one to judge right now. I am actually embarrassed to admit what I am about to admit to.....

See down there in my sig, it says that we are staying at the Poly. Well, that is not what we started out with, not even our second decision, nor our third.

You see in the beginning, there was the moderate. Gabby has gotten used to moderate hotels with all of her business travels and Motel 6 and Super 8, just doesn't cut it anymore, which is fine by me, but in the end, all I ever ask for is that my hotel room be clean, safe, air-conditioned/heated, and bug free. So, when we started planning this 40th birthday bash, we were looking at CSR again, because we liked CSR a lot back in 2005.

But, we found a bump in the road. Don't ya just love those? The bump was found when we had a quickie stay at CBR last September. We had to board our 4 Chihuahuas, two of which have health problems. They didn't do so well being boarded at the fancy, spoiled them rotten pet resort, so we decided that we would for the sake of the babies rent an RV and stay at FW.

Then we found another bump.....well, more like same old bump, just wider. Beanie, who has a bad heart, started to do worse. So, even with starting her on meds each day, it is now more of a necessity than ever that we limit her exposure to situations that might cause her to become over excited. Cancel the FW plan and work to find a new vet because the old vet's boarding facility was just not going to cut it.

So, back on the moderate path, but I love the look of POR, so we decided to do that one. You would think that would be enough, but oh no, more is coming.

Then, being the most wonderful life partner on the planet that she is, Gabby said, "Honey, let's bling out the budget and stay anywhere you want and do anything you want within the OMG HUGE budget" that she presented me with. Ok, a blinging and a dream fulfilling, I went. AKL SV is my ultimate WDW resort experience. So, we booked it.

BIG BUMP...all of that blasted AKL construction. Since this is supposed to be a blinged out trip of a lifetime, I didn't want to have it messed up by expansion, improvement, whatever they call themselves doing over there, so we changed again. This time, I thought that it might be nice to try a DVC resort, and OKW seemed to be the perfect fit.

Next and final.....well, God, I hope it's final change......we had a talk today. Gabby is a FL native and has been to WDW more times than she can count. When her grandmother would take them and stay onsite, usually for one of the girl's birthdays, she would always stay at CR, even when Gabby would beg to stay at the Poly, just once....on her birthday. So, I decided that I should give a little something back to her for spoiling me on my 40th. It's not like the Poly isn't my 2nd dream resort choice anyway. ;) So, we are now booked at the Poly to fulfill Gabby's lifelong dream and a dream of mine too.

See.....you aren't so crazy afterall are ya'? :upsidedow Maggie

Now you know the TRUTH of life....staying at Disney is soooooooooo much more important than your choice of a mate. :lmao:

Here's some unsolicited advice: Never take unsolicited advice....nah, just kidding. Pick the cheaper hotel. Use the savings to plan your next trip.

We stayed as cheaply as possible for many years, cheap hotel, pizza for dinner, drive not fly, etc. We got in twice as many trips to WDW (and other places) than other friends we know. Our kids have had such wonderful vacation memories that most people never get.
