Why stay in multiple resorts?

We are doing a split stay in Dec. The kids wanted ASMO and I wanted AKL,so since it is my b-day and anniversary my DH said why not do both( I knew there was a reason I married him.....LOL). We did book with the dining plan and it is costing us about 200$ more because of the 1 day ticket we had to buy to get the dining but so worth it to me to wake up with the animals. Hoping this new "Special discounted package" will help eleaveate some of the cost.

I usually stay at two resorts because I am meeting my family there. They own at SSR and I tend to go down early, stay somewhere else, and then meet them at SSR when they arrive.

The first time we did a switch was before kids and it wasn't intentional..We were booked at the Tree Top Villas and really didn't like the isolation, so we were able to switch to Boardwalk. Disney made it so easy that last year when I took my 2 dd's (5 & 1) we stayed at POP 3 nights and then switched to OKW (rented points and cheaper Sun - Fri stay). It was so easy we didn't skip a beat!

Now this November I will be staying at 3 different locations (my mom thinks I am nuts  ). 3 nights at WLV, 3 nights OKW and then 2 nights CBR. I am very excited because we have never stayed at WL or CBR and I would love to experience as many resorts as possible. I also try to plan a few days of just sitting by the pool and really enjoying each resort so I am not so worried about rushing around at night or in the morning right before the resort change.

Send me some pixie dust to ensure a smooth transition!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I have enjoyed reading the info in this thread. I had considered posting one similar, but thought it was too early since we're not going for a while.

I can't comment on why I've done a split stay, because I haven't been to Disney for 13 years (honeymoon), but can let you know why I want to...
  • Cost: Can't afford a deluxe for entire stay.
  • Go to more than one: DH isn't big on Disney (???). We'll probably go 2006 and then once more when kids are older. I gotta do what I can while I'm there.
  • Kids: They want to go to value and don't think I can take it for entire trip.
  • Beds: DH is 6'3". How can we share a double for a week  ?

The only thing holding me back is the hassle, which seems like it isn't that bad if Disney moves your bags for you.

The DP isn't really a negative for me. Only having it for part of the stay might be a positive. Go to the really good places when we have it, stick with counter service when we don't. Some advance planning would be in order, but I was thinking a sit down every day seemed like a lot of food and time.
