Why so slow to load?

Anyone else having problems with the Dis loading really slow?

I seem able to go on any other web page I fancy so I don't think it's my connection/browser. I've cleared cache, cookies etc but still having problems.

It's taken about 10 minutes to get on to say this

Is it just me

I've been having the same problem since yesterday, so frustrating!! Saying that when logged on just now and replied here it was ok. Fingers crossed x

Yes, same problem here. I always seem to have problems on this site. Not as bad as 10 mins in fairness but always a lot slower than other sites. Must be because it's so popular

No it's been going on for days.

There are lots of people complaining over on the technical board

Afaik it's to do with the migration onto new servers

It's okish for me before 9.00 am UK time or really late after 3.00 am

I think we just have to grin and bear it for the moment

Seriously - its been really slow for the past couple of weeks and its been other boards on Dis as well - there was a thread about it on the DL board the other day

I would go back and read the whole thread. As mentioned by Webmaster Alex in previous threads, the DIS is getting ready to move so new equipment.

I've put my time in running boards, and it's a thankless job sometimes lol. So I hope they get it figured out .

I agree! I appreciate the effort that the Dis puts into the boards. I think a bunch of people do not realize that there are 3 key pieces to the boards. The front end (web pages), the Database (The were the data is cataloged) and the SAN (Where the data is located). Databases this huge and with as much traffic as the boards receive generate a massive amount of read/writes to the Database. From the notices I saw this weekend, it looks like they are upgrading to some better/faster equipment to better handle the massive amount of traffic.

We will be upgrading to some new servers over the next 10 days or so
There will be some occasional periods of downtime as we get ready to migrate
Like now
We should be back up in an hour or so

Thanks for that I wasn't aware there was a tech board on here, so hadn't seen the previous threads.

On the up side, things seem to be much better this evening.

Thank you everyone who helps keep these boards running - i'd be lost with it
