Why so much love/crushes on Hugh Laurie/House?

I think he is much better looking now than he was when he was younger. But I keep seeing him as the Prince Regent in the Blackadder series or as Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster. Kind of ruins the image :happytv:

I've never seen House and I have a bit of a crush on him (mainly from Sense and Sensibility). He's got a twinkle in his eye - that's what I always find attractive about men, whether they're typically attractive or not.

Our hospital, severl years back, had an anestelogist OD in the OR bathroom. He had had a problem for MONTHS and people didn't know or looked the other way.

As for House.........there are days I WISH I could talk to patients that way. Not everyday, just every once in a while!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my job, it's jsut sometimes family members can drive you a lil batty!

I can understand an anesthesiologist having a bit more access to drugs, particularly cocaine. Cocaine is used during nasal surgery to shrink the nasal passages. It would be easy to lose a bit of that in the OR but not as depicted on House. Not even CLOSE!

They have addressed that the hospital administrator is willing to cover for him and there was a story arc where he got in legal trouble, stole a friend's script pad, etc....so other medical pros must have called the writers on it too.

And since I argue it's his sense of humor that's appealing, I think my favorite House line ever is:
Woman: but isn't it possible for me to get pregnant, like, sitting on a toilet seat?
House: Oh absolutely. There would have to be another person between you and it, but definitely possible.

I work in a hospital too, but when it comes to watching House, who cares? I know it's totally not based on reality, it's TV! Things like that can annoy me too sometimes, but not when I'm watching House.

I think it's more his character that I love, although his looks have improved over the years, IMO. I love how honest and miserable he is and I wish I could talk to some families like that, or had House in my hospital to do it!:headache: I swear I say that every day I am at work. Coworkers that don't watch the show look at me like I'm nuts.:crazy2:

Obviously, you can make the 'leap in imagination', I can't even come close when it comes to House. Believe me, I wanted to. The first episodes were billed as an ID physician who solved medical mysteries. In the first 15 minutes, I knew the diagnosis was osteogenesis imperfecta. DH refused to watch it. :rotfl2: After that, it was down hill all the way.

Happens in real life too. The ones in charge miss things. My mom had nausea, metallic taste in her mouth, and was needing continued blood transfusions (after going into remission from leukemia), along with having stomach pains. Do you think her MDs even THOUGHT "hmm, bleeding ulcer"? NOPE. They let her die, put leukemia on the death certificate, and continued on with their lives. The most they said to her about her symptoms was "that's strange" and "everyone is nauseated from chemo" even though she wasn't having chemo at the time AND hadn't been nauseated through the three rounds she had.

MDs mess up all the time, they miss things all the time. Heck, my stepmom and I had diagnosed her with leukemia weeks before she was officially diagnosed...and then every medical type that I have told the 4 symptoms she was having before she died has diagnosed some sort of bleeding between stomach and mouth by the time I even get to needing more blood...but her own docs didn't!

I usually like House b/c he doesn't hide his feelings passive-aggressively like most MDs I've had dealings with try to do. And he's only ONCE used the fear-based, no-information-being-given tactics that we've seen time and time again (including last Tuesday with my MIL). He says what he means and moves on, and doesn't sugar-coat anything, which allows patients and families to make decisions based on info, not just baseless fear.

I wondered why women find him sexy also, I asked Cantw8 and she said its his eyes

you're full of crap...I told you he doesn't appeal to me at all and looks like he needs to be taken through the car wash:rotfl: Yuck...too skinny also

I thought you said he could eat crackers in your bed :confused3

I love how sarcastic and miserable he is...and that episode where he shaved the beard? :swoon:

Now if only Kal Penn wasn't gone I'd be a lot happier

It's his self-possession, his confidence, and his totally unapologetic nature.
It's amazing how far confidence and a steady stare can go with a man.

I'll have to find that episode! My DD had Osteogenesis Imperfecta:sad1:, so I can always tell right away, also.

Visual aids!
(I prefer this side of Hugh Laurie)

I LOVE HIM!!! shhh don't tell DBF... I like him as a person, and he the way he treats his patients is a little rough but he figures it all out in the end and fixes what is wrong... so if I had a real life Dr. talk to me like that yeah I would be upset but if he fixed me then that is another story

But to answer your question I love him IRL and on the show... just the bad boy in him gets to me....

BTW please see my tag <~~~~~~~

It's House that I like. He's funny and I like funny. But Hugh Laurie isn't exactly hard on the eyes.
