I openned up the board today only to find in the top 2 spots nothing but complaints. We should all be thankful that we get to go and plan trips to WDW. I realize that Disney is making cutbacks, but aren't we all. I know that my family has made cuts on how much we eat out, how much we go to movies and so on. Money is tight for us, so we chose to make some cuts to our family budget where we had some "fluff". That having been said, most business in the US are doing the same, cutting some of the "fluff". WDW is not exempt from that, they are a business and in order to continue to make a profit or just simply break even, they must cut some of the "fluff", and I realize that some may get their feelings hurt by that, I try my best to make the most out of what is left for me to participate in at Disney. Now along with that, I must make a plan to get the most out of Disney that I can. So, if I must make ADRs so I can get into a favorite restaurant then that is what I will do, and if I must do so in 90 days or 180 days (whatever the case may be) then that is what I will do. I am sorry that the table wasn't available for a walk-up. Yes, the DDP has made it financially easier for me to visit some of these restaurants that I go to, but Disney is in the business of providing entertainment and if they have figured out a way to make it so that is cost effective for them and gets more people thru their doors, then so be it.

But, can we please all just stop complaining about the planning process and the cutbacks. Disney is not impervious to the economic decline in our society, they have to do what they can do as well. I'd rather them cut some "fluff" then to have to close the doors completely because they lost so much money by keeping stuff just to entertain the masses. I am very thankful that my DH and I have jobs in the economic crisis we have here in this country and I am also thankful that I get to still travel to Disney, while I watch businesses around us close and then those families lose their homes. So, while yes, I'll notice some of the things that are missing, I'll also be mindful of how lucky I am that I am there. JMHO.

I agree that we should all be grateful for what we have, but I also think we all need to vent a little from time to time...I know I do! (my poor husband!)
I also think that one of those threads (and I didn't read that far into it so sorry if I am missing something) was started by a very young person, and I think it's great that they are taking the initiative and working towards a solution for their problem, and doing it in such a well thought out and mature way! I don't know if it will bring about any change, but I certainly wish more people took action instead of just complaining and waiting for someone else to do something for them.

Bravo! My sentiments exactly! :worship: I know that DH and I are so very thankful that we are going on our first WDW vacation. I know that it'll be perfect because our vacation will be what we make it, we won't rely on Disney to make things perfect for us.

I think I started one of the threads your talking about, and usually I totally agree with you- it drives me mad when people complain about such small things and I do really love Disney (maybe too much  ) But it seems that each day there comes news of new cutbacks, less shows, and come on theres a parade mostly made up of people swirling about batons. I dont mean to go against the purpose of your thread, but its the slight changes that take away so much of the experience that have bugged me. I am still totally supportive of Disney though, which is why in my complaint I wrote how i wasnt actually complaining but asking a question. That seems pretty strange but ohwell, Ive gone on for ages now. Thankyou if you bothered to read this because I bet it doesn't even make sense :)

We have the same arrival date! I thought that countdown looked familiar...

I agree with you 100%. I love Disney, and support it since when ever I end up going back will be my 33rd time there, but I agree. When you cut to the point where things aren't as magical then it is time to let Disney know. I went in January and was disappointed in quite a few things. Rooms made up late, and needing some repair. Mold on a ceiling in the bathroom. Lights out. In parks - signs that were not working...lines for transportation that were outrageous when the crowds weren't that large. It took two boats to get us to the Dolphin before we got on and over 45 minutes. Long lines at the stores and food counters. The line was out to the coutyard of HS. I know it is a bad economy, but you want to get what you pay for and Disney was not cheap in January. I had no special deal. Would I go back> Heck yes...but sometimes Disney needs to know where customers think they could use a little help. They are no more perfect then the rest of us.

I enjoy coming to these boards to read a wide range of views on WDW. As long as the posts aren't derogatory or deliberately offensive, I have no problem with "negative" posts.

If every post was nothing but sunshine and gumdrops, we'd be doing each other a DISservice (pardon the pun).

And the beauty of forums like this are, if you don't like what someone has to say, you don't have to read it.

You are very articulate and wrote a valid letter in your thread. :thumbsup2

so you started a thread to complain about the complaints threads? efficient?

As long as posters are following the rules of this board, they should be able to post what they want without others asking them to stop.

I skip threads if I don't like or am not interested in the subject matter.

Expectations are high when you vacation @ Disney - so when things are not the same as previous visits, it's good to have that information so others can be made aware and keep their own expecations in check

amen!

I think people just have exceptionally high standards for Disney. Sure, Disney has been cutting back, but we all have. I also think that people have higher expectations for goods and services when their hard-earned money is even harder to come by. Just my thoughts.

Im not sure why there are any complaints. All I see is Disney rehabbing everything while in this down-time. From Space Mountain and Hall of Presidents, to updating and cleaning pools at the resorts, to painting the rocks in Tomorrowland as well as the new additions to the parks and DTD. I just got back from WDW at the end of November and when I go back in May I will have a handful of new things to do. Kim Possible missions, a new restaurant in DTD as well as a couple new parades and even a balloon ride at DTD. There not installing any HUGE new attractions at this point and I want them as much as anyone else, but I think they are doing a great job with cleaning up the parks and rehabbing things while its slow, while also giving us return guests during this time some small additions.

As someone who has a very, very limited budget and is going to Disney with high expectations (and for the money who shouldn't have high expectations?) it is helpful for me to read ALL types of feedback regarding what people have experienced. This is what allows us to have high but realistic expectations - right? If this is only going to be a place where everything Disney is perfect and above reproach then I don't think it will be very helpful at all. Just my opinion.
