Why so busy last week?

We took a last minute trip to WDW from the 16th til 22nd. It was so busy! Why? The marathon? Winter break? We just couldn't believe how busy it was!

Presidents day week is always super busy and seeing as that was Feb 15th that would make total sense. In Canada we also have a holiday on the 15th which is Family day (in most provinces) so many Canadians go down also. Also the Princess half marathon was around then as well. If you check the crowd calendar you will see its always busy that week.

Lol - everything is relative I guess. We were there for President's week last week and thought the crowds were pretty light .... But then we were comparing it to years when we've gone when president's week coincided with Mardi Gras or the years we've gone over Easter.

Marathon + president's week + school breaks up north... there really is no "slow" time anymore.

Yep. As everyone has said, it was Presidents' Week which is a vacation week for a lot of schools in the northeast at least. And the Princess Half Marathon was the end of that week.

(Marathon Weekend is in January - the only marathon Disney has. The others are all half marathons.)

Massachusetts & Maine school vacation week ( this week is NH break but much less people in NH)

We were there, too, and it was the most crowded I have ever seen it. We met several Canadians and saw a lot of Japanese, too (far more than I usually see - maybe a holiday for them?) Many of the schools in Georgia had winter break, and Florida is so close for us that WDW seems the natural place to escape the winter weather. We saw one of my daughter's teachers in a bathroom at HS. Lots of us Georgians were there.

Part of it may have been the gorgeous weather last week, too. We experienced about 15 minutes of rain at MK on our entire trip. Nights and mornings were cool, but afternoons were outstandingly perfect. That may have brought more local passholders.

Lines were not so bad since we make good use of FP+ and plan extensively, but the worst was trying to walk the paths. I do not enjoy having to walk at a snail's pace and being bumped into (and accidentally bumping into others) over and over. I literally bounced off at least three people at three different times the paths were so crowded.

Still had a great time, but I was surprised that it was even more crowded than our Thanksgiving trip.

We are here now and we're really surprised by the crowds this week after the week that was expected to be busy. The crowd calendars all predicted levels of 2 and 3 for MK and it was INSANE, every day we went this week. Long wait times for everything starting at park opening. I think maybe a lot of runners ended up making a longer vacation out of it, or everybody went by the crowd calendar and made it busy as a result?

We were there from Wednesday on last week as well, and to be honest I really didn't see much difference between the Friday, Saturday, and yesterday (Tuesday).

I was there the 15-21 and didn't find it to be super busy. I was able to accomplish almost everything I wanted to do between rope drop and lunch every day except Saturday.

We were there Feb 19th-22nd and were surprised at how low the crowds were. It was definitely a lot more thinned out than the past few months we've been. Last time we were there was New Years, so this trip was a breath of fresh air lol. But this Feb trip was much lower crowds vs when we were there in Dec/Jan, Oct, and August

But there's no slow time at Disney anymore.

We were there Feb 19-23. MK on Sat the 20 was crazy busy but MK on Monday the 22 was worse! It was a lot of families and kids. Epcot wasn't that busy on Sunday the 21.
Waits for the rides were ridiculous at MK but we had FP and did rope drop so it was manageable. The pathways were wall to wall people. Definitely the most crowded I have ever seen MK.

Seems up north there are more long school breaks than here in FL

its generally busy the week of valentine's day/president's day.

many kids have at least president's day off and a lot have the full week off.

LOL!! Why so busy? It's one of the peak times of the year - winter school vacations!
