Why so busy 12/6-11?

As Debbie mentioned, the dining plan effect. You gotta book 180 days in advance.

Some good restaurants on the dining plan that may still have spots available:

Tutto Italia (Epcot)
Restaurant Marrakesh (Epcot)
Raglan Road (Downtown Disney)
Turf Club Bar and Grill (Saratoga Springs)

Good luck, and keep trying. Sometimes cancellations happen.

with the dining plan being a good deal or free dining times? I don't think these is a free dining time?

Keep checking back, I did (we'll be there the 9th-12th) and I have checked daily and found all the ones I wanted. It just takes patience and timing.:)

Many people like the dining plan enough to pay for it outright, especially if they got a discount on the rooms through a bounceback offer. Also, that week is sort of a free dining time, in the sense that somebody could book a 10 day, with the first day during free dining, and the free dining promotion then carries forward into the rest of the stay.

ahhh, that makes more sense. Will keep trying back. Thanks everyone!

It's also a very busy time for DVC. Free dinning. Pop Warner, Cheerleading and the start of the WDW BUSY season. I think that covers it all :lmao::hippie:

I thought Jersey Week is in November. Did you just mean those weeks in general? Pop Warner was not on my radar....

No you are not confused, the previous poster was. Jersey week is in November and will not affect crowds Dec 6-11.

Isn't this a free dining time? I could be mistaken. If so, that could be part of it. I've also read reports over the past couple years where people said 5-10 years ago, the best time to go was the first or second week of December, but now people are catching on and going at that time, so it's not really as slow as it used to be.

All I can suggest is keep checking back to see what's available. You can always make a reservation for somewhere now and keep trying until you get in to where you want and then cancel your first option.

Isn't this a free dining time?

No, not technically. But plenty of people book trips with one or two days during the free dining promotion, and the rest of the days end up 'anchored' to the free dining promotion.

In this particular case, there is a free dining promotion for arrival dates between 11/27 and 12/2. So if somebody booked a trip from 12/2 to 12/11, the entire stay would be free dining, even though the free dining promotion technically ends on 12/2.

yes, highly popular DVC time and DVC doesn't qualify for free dining, but many purchase it or just pay OPP and still dine table service. Try odd times or off the beaten path places.

We check in 12/1 to 12/6 and we have free dining the entire week...
as long as you checked in before 12/3 you get free dining for your entire stay so there still might be some free dining families there when you arrive.

I'm going to be there that week, and I've seen plenty of availability as far as dining goes. Granted, places like Le Cellier were booked way back at 180 days, but there are lots of restaurants with openings.
