Is there a special event that weekend? Average rates around $300 but that weekend $1000 per night. Also no rooms available with points. All I could find was the Orlando jazz fest. Would that do it? Opinions welcomed. Thanks!

With the Marriott take over, the rates seem to be all over the map. Keep checking as they seem to fluctuate. We just stayed at the Dolphin over President's Day weekend and, when I first looked, the rates were off the charts. I kept checking and they finally went back down to what I'm used to ($200-$300 range). We were able to get a good rate for late March as well. If you are able to open up the "flexible dates" option, you may be able to find a better rate if you have some flexibility. Also, Marriott just switched over to Marriott Bonvoy and the whole system seems to be a bit off right now. When we checked out of the Dolphin, I asked if I could do an instant redemption of points to cover some of our resort dining costs, but the front desk staff member said Swan/Dolphin are not accepting points at the current moment.

We've had the same issue for Wednesdays in the two weeks before that, and it's incredibly frustrating. Check every day and something may change.

The pricing does seem odd to me. I checked a week in early May and it was almost $600 a night for a standard room yet the next week the same room was around $350. Even the $350 is up from what the same time periods were selling for right before the start of 2019 so it seems that there has been a general price increase as well as the odd pricing going on. I also noticed that the amount of points needed for a stay has significantly incresed as well.

Swan and Dolphin are business hotels. Although an event may not be happening in the parks, many companies rent out dozens of rooms at these resorts for their conventions/trade shows/conferences etc.. I know my company books 1200 rooms at the Dolphin every September (Sun thru Thur second week of Sept usually). We go to Epcot Monday evenings and thats about it. Its work work work the rest of the trip! Many of us fly in on Saturday though and spend a few days at the parks, on our own dime, before the conference starts Monday morning.

I stayed at the Yacht Club March 2017 and there was a big conference for GM for several days during my stay. It was great. Hotel was full, but nobody at the pool :)

I have been facing the same issue. I booked in early Feb. for my May dates for Food & Wine and I got rates as low as $208 on some days of my trip with the average being $274.55 per night. (Note: Last year I got the same F&W week for $135 per night as a late April offer, so keep watching.

Now as I keep checking the rates are in the $450-$650 range per day. It does really look like an aggressive load management system that as inventory drops, prices rise 2x, 3x or higher. The question is will this hold or might this just be business blocks for scheduled or "possible" business events that may not materialize.

I recommend that you just keep checking and also have a backup plan since Disney does have some good deals during the same time, just not located around Crescent lake.
