why our seats have been changed?

We fly tomorrow and overnight VA have changed our seat allocation for our flight and we are unable to amend it on line even thouhg we are still outside the 24 hrs, anyone know why VA do this?

because they can

Seriously, they have probably changed the version of the 747 flying the flight you are on and when this happens the seat REQUESTS (not a confirmation or allocation, its only a request) are removed.
Secondly, if the flight is full and the 60% of seats held back have been released, then only a manual change to seat allocations can be carried out at teh airport and you get a message that says "Seats will be allocated at checkin"

Our requested seats changed all the time! But we were sat together once we got to the airport & checked in which is really all we wanted

thanks Obi we are on the VS27 11:15 tomorrow. Yestreday the seating plan was for a 747 -400 v2 and we had row 29 H, J, K.

As I thought, the Economy seating is full, not a spare seat from 21-65
still some marked for unavailable, i.e. for allocation at checkin (Emergency exit seats etc)

5 seats in PE, none in UC!

I hope you have all managed to get seated together. As said before it is a request for seating not a definite placing. I am never too bothered as usually we are all together whether requested or booked in at the airport.
