Actually, since AT&T rolled out their Next program we have allowed our contract with them to expire and refuse to take part in their racket program. Our next phones, IF they are iPhones, will be purchased outright and not tied to their company. We've been loyal customers for almost 16 years following from Bellsouth Mobility thru Cingular then AT&T. Even with cell phones there comes a breaking point.
We left ATT, too. But it was because of HOW they explained the new stuff. We've found out that pretty much NO cellphone company does the "free phone" thing anymore, so now we're with TMobile paying just about the same for just a little more than what ATT offered. We would not have changed if all of that hadn't happened and if they hadn't been such HUGE gigantic rude JERKS about it. (much like DCL has been about all of this) We'd been with Cingular since '02, we didn't want to change at all. But they were so rude.
iphone's still hundreds of dollars, though, no matter who you buy it from.
