Actually, since AT&T rolled out their Next program we have allowed our contract with them to expire and refuse to take part in their racket program. Our next phones, IF they are iPhones, will be purchased outright and not tied to their company. We've been loyal customers for almost 16 years following from Bellsouth Mobility thru Cingular then AT&T. Even with cell phones there comes a breaking point.

We left ATT, too. But it was because of HOW they explained the new stuff. We've found out that pretty much NO cellphone company does the "free phone" thing anymore, so now we're with TMobile paying just about the same for just a little more than what ATT offered. We would not have changed if all of that hadn't happened and if they hadn't been such HUGE gigantic rude JERKS about it. (much like DCL has been about all of this) We'd been with Cingular since '02, we didn't want to change at all. But they were so rude.

iphone's still hundreds of dollars, though, no matter who you buy it from.

We buy used phones (and use no contract). Cheaper and less stress. Same sprint network. No big deal if it breaks. No insurance costs. Have a galaxy 4 right now. Great phone.

you know, i didn't mean to make this about people spending money on i-phones. I was being demonstrative. Your point, however, IS exactly what I was implying.
IF people stop paying for a service (expensive phones, expensive cruises, etc) prices adjust. OR another product comes along with a better price point to compete with the original market...e.g. blackberry is now but a memory.
Either way, it IS about saturation. I never would have imagined that there would be as many cruise ships in existence....when I was young (back when dinosaurs walked the earth) cruising was a niche market. While still a comparatively small vacation $ destination, it has EXPLODED !!
and, as someone wiser than me pointed out, the 2 newer and bigger ships are still full-ish. IF there were 2 more ships, they would probably be full, too. I don't quite comprehend where the extra dcl passengers come from but they obviously exist.

Corporate Greed.................................

It's the human shareholders that drive it. Disney has to do its best to increase its value to its shareholders. Sometimes that is in line with providing what us DISers want and sometimes it's not. It is not different from Starbucks or Apple in that respect.

I just don't get it...
it seems to be charge more more more...
but DCL can't send an email out of new itineraries to all their Castaway Club members with the news before it reaches the presses or the boards? It seems like a slap in the face to the cruisers that they don't even care enough to inform people of the new stuff so that they can book.

I just finished a Jim Hill and Len Testa podcast and they reported on a survey to pass holders . One qestion was "What phrase best describes how you feel about the Disney Company?" One of the choices was "I feel the Walt Disney company is greedy". Obviously Disney is hearing some rumblings. Just putting that out there.

It can be defended as Commerce. But sooner or later enough is enough. Corporate Greed will be the downfall of the middle class. I'm living it now in Pittsburgh..

Just sayin.................
