Why only 3 DME luggage tags?

We have used DME many times and have always received at least 2 luggage tags per person. This year we only received 1 per person.

Am I missing something?

Can I call and ask for more? Who do I call?

If we can only send 1 suitcase per person thru DME then we will skip it all together because what is the point of only forwarding part of your luggage and having to lug the rest of it with you??

Around March when DME made the changes with regard to luggage and not sending DME packets outside of the US and Canada they also started to send only one luggage tag per guest as a cost cutting measure as with the implementation of baggage fees they felt most guests were only using one tag. You can have more than one bag per person, you need to call DME and request more tags but if they don't arrive in time just stop at the DME counter and make sure they know you have more bags than tags and they will ask for a description of the bag and possibly the claim check numbers from the airline but they will get your bags

You just give them the extra baggage claim tickets ( just a description won't do) if you didn't receive additional baggage tags in time.

It is surmised by Disney that most people will only be bringing one bag due to the fees and the convenience of the larger rolling bags. I remember years ago, when luggage was so heavy and clunky to carry, you had to take several smaller bags.

It is cheaper for Disney to print and send out additional baggage tags for the few people who will ask for them; compared to the thousands of people who will throw away the second baggage tag they could have saved from printing.....

In addition, you do also have the option of giving them the baggage claim tags - so the second baggage tag becomes a moot point.

Thanks everyone! I just called DME at 866-599-0951 ext. 9 and ordered 3 more luggage tags just to be safe.

Heck, one entire suitcase is dedicated to my body pillow and electric fan...no laughing!

We usually pack the smaller rolling duffle type bags that fit better in rental car trunks and fold flat to go under hotel beds for storing.

I also hadn't thought about the fact that I can't life anything over 10 lbs so my two boys are going to be doing all the loading, unloading and hauling of the bags so I don't want to make them too heavy but rather split it up into several smaller bags.

Yippeee!! Only 35 more days!

For some airlines, adding 3 more checked bags will cost at least another $45 to the flight each way. We always try to pack light so never used the second tags for each person in my family. They're saving money and paper by not sending most people 2 tags per person. (But, we weren't packing a body pillow and electric fan either! I totally understand needing those things and they would be worth the extra fees to many, many people.)

I'm just glad that the 1st 6 suitcases are free. If they weren't, I would have to leave my beloved pillow home
