Why onboard so early on CC day?

DCL newb here, so be gentle.

Noticed on the DCL site that in Nassau, you don't have to be back onboard until 7pm, versus 4:30pm for Castaway Cay. Is there a compelling reason for that? We're doing the 4-day, with the day at sea following CC, I believe. It seems that on the 4 and 7-day they could let you stay onshore longer. Even go to dinner and then go BACK onto CC for...something, I dunno. Missed opportunity for DCL? Or simple reason for not?

On the 7 day cruises, CC is the last day before returning to PC. It has to leave early in order to make it to PC on time.

on the 4 night CC is the day before the day at sea, but you still need to be off the island by 4:30pm because the island CMs have a ton of work to do and it has to be done before sundown (when the ugly bugs come out).

One main reason is scheduling. Usually after CC, there is a need to get to the next port. Examples include the fact that it doesn't take long to get from Nassua to CC (so you can leave Nassua very late and still get to CC early), but it takes much longer to get from CC back to Port Canaveral.

The second reason I can think of is consistancy. The island isn't equipted for night time / evening guests and the peir doesn't appear to have any lighting. At certain times of the year, they have to be off the island by 5:00 to leave during day light hours. So rather than changing the schedule based on time of year, they look at the "worst case" point in the year and schedule everything based on that time.

Other suggestions?

Yeah. You only get a short time at CC so it entices you to re-book so you can enjoy it again. LOL It's all a marketing ploy.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think it is also, because some of the Independents employees has to take the boats back to home in the other islands of the Bahamas and perhaps for saftey reasons, they have to travel while sun is still up. .

One of the girls who did my DD braids told me this a few years back.

Yeah, that all makes sense.

But it would be sweet to maybe do Pirate Night where you could be on the ship and shore. Fireworks, etc.

I wonder what Disney has planned for the rest of the island? There's a lot of room left. A resort? Waterpark?

There was a thread not too long ago about how people would feel about a waterpark, hotel, etc. on CC.

The majority said no, leave it as it is....a more natural envrionment. There are enough waterparks/hotels in Florida.....leave CC as mostly undeveloped...

Most of the undeveloped area is protected environmental areas - I don't expect DCL to develop much more of the island for anything.
