Why on earth is everything booked....

Welllll - to answer the original question? Could it be because everyone else BOOKED? Just askin :).
Ummmm...there are over 30,000 onsite rooms so I have a hard time believing that they are all booked.

I just looked and there are several, including ASMu and a FW cabin. I went this time of year two years ago, 2 months away from the trip I looked in to adding a few days on to the end and couldn't find anything, everywhere was booked solid. To date that is the most crowded time I have ever gone (still haven't gone AT christmas, but after dealing with those crowds I'm not too scared of holidays anymore). You end up with a perfect storm of events leading to low availability: people rescheduling trips after a hurricane (that is what happened during our trip), Pop warner stuff, and Christmas. It used to be that time of year was one of the best to go, the first two weeks of december were great, but I think word got out and now it's just not anymore.
We were there over Labour Day weekend and had to leave early due to Hurricane Dorian closing the airport. We only lost our last day but I still felt a little ripped off. I can see how people may have rebooked for Thanksgiving/early Dec if they had to cancel due to the hurricane.

What has worked for me was to add more days then you need when searching. There seems to be more available with a few days more added. Book it and call to take some days off the reservation.
I've tried adding extra days with no luck. I've tried all sorts of combinations from 5 single day reservations to a 14 day package. I've got the first 4 nights secured now but still need that last night. A royal room is now available and I would love to do it (I am considering) but the reality is that we would get almost no enjoyment from that splurge.....we are doing MVMCP that night and then fly home the next morning. Also, the room rate in my home currency is about $400.

I have a friend whose entire trip got rescheduled because of Dorian, his flight down got canceled and because he flies standby as an airline employee he wasn't able to get on any other flights that week since people moved their flights around and filled up the rest of the flights that hadn't been canceled. He ended up rebooking for that entire week of December that you are trying to go, and from what I remember he didn't have much to choose from then.

It was pretty quiet at WDW then. I had to be home for work (I couldn't risk being even one day later) so we had no choice but to fly home early. I was really surprised at how quiet MCO was that night. We flew home on a flight around 9pm that had 97-ish empty seats. I thought that everyone would have been trying to get out ahead of all the cancellations.

Just read

Just read President Trump will be at the Grand Floridian on 12/7. Maybe room availability the end of that week (which is the time we had problem securing a room ) is due to that function and added security. Maybe that makes sense now
