Why do my kids seem to be asking...just asking!...to hurt themselves before we go on vacation.

You would think me saying they can't swim if they had a cast on would work...but nooooooooo.

Climbing trees...riding their scooters all crazy like.

Then there is the Let's-spin-around-in-the-yard-and-make-ourselves-dizzy-to-where-we-almost-fall-down-and-split-open-our-heads-on-the-playset.

Let's walk on the balance beam! (our deck railing)

And I swear I'm all panicky during soccer practice and games.

I'm going to lock them in their rooms and home school this last month.

No daredevils here but ....My DD FINALLY had the first virus free vacation this past October and she is 14 now! I on the other hand came down with my first vacation cold ever, man, was it a doozey!:lmao: My advice- Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Ahhhhh, now keep doing this until your trip. I am just sure that everyone will be healthy and cast free so your family can enjoy this vacation together!:wizard:

Sorry, but I think it's in the Kid's Code of Conduct, right there in the rule book: "Do crazy stunts right before vacation, holidays, or big family photos. If this isn't possible, at least 'forget' to wash your hands and be sure to stick your fingers in your mouth to increase the possibility of coming down with something days before departure." :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 Yup! It's clearly stated on Page 1.

Thanks for the idea of keeping in the closet til vacation comes.:rotfl: I thought I would also make them rubbed down in sanitizer every 1 hour on the hour too. I really love my boys and would not trade them for the world but you are right, with my luck in a wheelchair with a cast on is in the cards. Good luck!

Just a piece of advice if they DO break a limb before you leave, make sure you the tell the doctor setting the cast to use a waterproof casting material. Most have them, but only by request. DD broke her arm a few years ago in soccer, two weeks before we left for Hilton Head Island where we had rented a house with a pool in the backyard and planned on swimming every day. It was about $30 more than the insurance would cover, but worth it not to have to listen whining all week about not being able to be in the pool. Plus, I didn't have to worry about her cast getting wet in the shower or bath, and if she was itchy we could run cool water down her arm into her cast and it relieved the itching. :thumbsup2

I hear ya! I become a huge germophobe before a trip! I'm constantly germ-exing them and banning any child that even sniffles from being near our house! The crazy thing is somebody always gets sick the week of vacation and the rest of the year we're as healthy as a horse!

Sounds like my 10 yr old DD!! :confused3 During Spring Break last week, she discovered an old pogo stick at my aunt's house from when I was a kid. Of course she decided that she needed to master it! Luckily no injuries. Then over the weekend, she fell down the stairs while reading a magazine and walking at the same time. :scared1: We keep telling her to be extra careful because we leave for WDW on 5/22 but it's in one ear and out the other.
