Why not just a taxi from airport?

Can't we just take a taxi from MCO to the YC? Why hire a limo?
How much does a taxi cost anyway?

One thing to remember about a taxi, you are on the meter so if you hit traffic you will pay more, a limo is a flat fee. You also get personal service with a limo and a nicer car for about the same price as a taxi.

Below is the costs for the taxis owned by Mears (which is yellow cab, checker cab, city cab and safety cab co.)

It cost $2.00 for the first 2/7 of a mile or for 80 seconds of wait time, so if you take more than 80 seconds to load your luggage, you are already spending $2.00 and it is then .25 per 1/7 of a mile or 40 seconds of wait time. All that can add up. And as was pointed out, if you hit traffic or lots of lights, it keeps costing you.

When you do the math, the base cost of getting to the YC is approximately $40.00...and as Debbie pointed out, if you hit traffic or a lot of traffic lights, the cost can increase.

I spent $48 going from CSR to the airport before tip. It wasn't that nice of a cab.

Instead of a limo, you can get a towncar w/ driver instead. Half the limo price if you only have 4 or 5 people and not tons of luggage.

You should also factor in whether you want to stop at a grocery for snacks on the way. Limo services will stop at a grocery and allow you 15 minutes to shop if needed at no extra charge.

Don't think of it as a limo, think of it as a car service. The price differs by the size of the vehicle you hire. A "towncar" is normally a regular 4-dr. sedan, which costs less than a limo.

As to why, two words: NO METER.

BTW, if the trip is of short duration (4 days or less) renting a car can sometimes be the cheapest private option if you use coupon codes (presuming that you are at least 25 yrs. old.)

For my trip in October, I am paying $85.00 r/t to WL.

My last trip, I used a cab. We told the driver three times we were going to POR. Now it had been almost two years since I had been there, but when we turned into the Epcot parking lot, I knew we were lost .

After we asked our driver a few more times if he had any idea where we were going, he stopped and asked the Epcot gate people where POR was.

Oh, and he finally decided maybe he ought to turn the meter off. That trip cost us over $50.00 and the trip back (where the driver didn't get lost) cost us $45.00.

So I figure by taking a Town Car this time, I'm saving time, money and aggravation. And hopefully they know where WL is!!:p

The town cars are much nicer than the taxis ... when we took taxis around Disney, most of them did not have their a/c on and it was really hot and uncomfortable :(

Who do I use??
We are a family of 5. Three DD and two adults.
Thanks for all the good advice.

We use Tiffany Town car. you will need a van for that many people. We use a van for 4, but mainly because I overpack.

We have had a problem, with them in the past, but they handled it very promptly, and we were again happy.

Just remember, there are good, and bad experiences with every company. You will read a lot of different opinions.

Have a great trip.:D

I'm using Cartier for the first time this trip. They've been getting great feedback on the boards, their communication with me has been excellant and they were cheaper than some of the other companies spoken about around here.
