Why no specials for really low season?

Hi,

Since I wouldn't purchase an AP unless I had already booked a room at the AP discount rate (not the normal 10% but if there was a better special) I am guessing I wouldn't be able to look at the AP hotel calendar. I was just going to check the disboards and the disneyland website every day to see if something popped up.

Is there a better way to find out as soon as they are released?

The other thing I will watch for from disney (which I highly doubt will happen) is a package deal for our dates. Or I may go on Expedia or Travelocity last minute and see if there are any all inclusive (disney resort and airfare - maybe park tickets) deals for last minute travelers. Although I've never used those travel sites, I understand they sometimes have greatly discounted deals.

Thanks!

I have also never used Expedia or similar sites but I hear the same thing - that if you are willing to hang in there until the last minute, you may be able to snap up some great rates.

As for the AP hotel calendar, if you ever need to know what the rates are showing as for certain days, I can look them up for you, or I am sure any of our other DIS-ers would be happy to do it. I have looked up rates for people before on the DIS. It's no problem at all! You can PM me or post here on the forum, whichever. I still think the best November rates probably won't appear until August or early September. As you know, we are all waiting to see what, if anything, comes out for October that is better than what they are showing now. So I have a feeling that at least a few of us will be checking the hotel calendar every day or every other day until those show up! And then, you will probably start to see threads that say "The AP October rates are up!!"

At this point, I think there is a much better chance of great hotel rates coming along for that period post-Halloween and pre-Thanksgiving that you mentioned in your first post than even for October! Like the Reservations CM told me on the phone, even if there are October AP rates released at any point, they may not be as good as the rates we have all seen in the past, or they may be for very limited days, or they may not appear until September, etc. All kinds of variables are playing into it. October is already going to be busy so they want to capitalize on that. But for that 'between-holiday' period when they may have a hard time drawing in people to the park, I can totally envision some great AP rates coming out to attract people.

Since I can not go during the "off" season it does not impact me. What gets me is there are no senior discounts for anything unless you qualify for a drop in room rates which is usually 10%. The baby boomers are supposed to have a lot of $$$.

~~~OT~~~
Jack, the Disney properties gives a 30% senior discount for the standard view rooms. We have used this discount...and our standard view room was in the Dreams Tower, 5th floor, Downtown Disney view, with a wonderful view of the fireworks. (a baby boomer):scared1: jc
got a pin for 35% off but the buy three get five was much better for us.
Hi Albort,
I remember you from two years ago when we last went to Disneyland (well, not meeting you in person but your posts on this board).
So, were you serious or are you being sarcastic/funny? I thought one of the other threads talked about how a lot of the SoCal AP holders come in for a few rides on a regular basis but don't eat in the restaurants, stay in the disney hotels, purchase much merchandise.
I am curious what you meant?
Rhonna
i was being serious. Like for example 4th of July, the park was literally DEAD. SO what is blocked out on 4th of July? Almost everything, so lets just list the ppl that can get in... Premium APs, Regular paying guest...
At the moment, its not as busy but it a little bit busy.
Thanks for the offer! I gave up on Disneyland when I found some great discounts at WDW and booked with them. If there had been something available with disneyland we would have done it (in Nov.) but now, we are changing gears to WDW. So, thanks for all the help from everyone but I'm moving on over to the WDW boards now.
Best wishes to all of you trying for disneyland this fall!
And that folks, is why it's sad that DL doesn't release info and updates about the park, attractions and hotels well ahead of time. WDW is already offering free dining for stays through December, and there's no info about any deals for DL through October. :sad2: DL really is an AP park...which is fine if you can drive there or fly there for $59 round trip....not good if you have to fly in from places not served by Alaska, JetBlue and/or Southwest.:rolleyes1 I say this, and I am for the first time, an AP holder, but I live in a market not served by any of the smaller, more competitive airlines. So we need to plan in advance or pay through the nose on airfare. :sad2:
