Why no late PS when park stays open late?

I just finished booking our PS for our July trip and had to book most of our dinners for much earlier than I had anticipated. According to the CM, it wasn't a matter of all the later times being booked already. At LTT the latest they will let anyone book the character dinner is 5:45 and the latest dinner booking at 50's Prime Time was 6:00. I thought this was kind of odd since we're going July 4th weekend and all the parks are open fairly late. Anyone know why? I'm not complaining - just curious.:)

I know that the park hours just came out today, maybe their system hadn't been updated yet. They only book early PSs until the hours actually come out. I would try calling again.

I was told last night that it depends on the restaurant. Some will fill all of the earlier slots before opening the later ones. I was told to try back at 60 days out because that seems to be when they review their PS's. Then call back at regualr intervals until you get your time. Relatively so few people call back and change times that they continue to do this to us.

Thanks - I probably will call back later and see if I can re-schedule a couple of our meals. I got a 5:30 PS for the character dinner at LTT (which isn't too bad) but had to settle for a late lunch seating at 50's Prime Time or we wouldn't have finished in time to see the Stars & Motorcars parade. We don't usually eat that early at home, tho, so I'm afraid we will have a hunger meltdown later in the evening and have to deal with long lines at a counter serv. place. The whole point of making a PS was so that we could eat dinner in the park without having a long wait. I sure don't want to spend the $ for a full-service meal and STILL have to go to a counter service place later. I suppose if all else fails we will just have to pack some snacks for later in the evening. Thanks again.:)

Keep calling every few days. It takes a few weeks after releasing park hours for them to expand dining hours. We had the same problem for our trip coming up. I really wanted a late PS for the Castle Sat. as the park is open until 11. Initially the latest they would give us was 5:30, but after about a month we were able to snag a 7:30 PS.

Wow- we leave tomorrow, still does not feel real!
