There are jets in one end of the pool that has seats to sit on. I have no idea why they didn't put one in but i wouldn't use it anyway. The hottubs at the WL and CBR were so packed with little kids it wasn't funny. Like I really want to sit in a hottub with a bunch of 9 year olds that never seem to leave! Ewwwwwwww!!! LOL!

I DID ask that particular question when I stayed there 2 summers ago. The lifeguard answered me with a rather blase attitude  by telling me that there were those jets at the other end of the pool. This would be the end of the pool where hundreds of screaming kids careen down the new water slide. Thanks, but "no thanks."

The Disney resorts used to be set up for the adult in mind. Maybe those in charge felt that the Magic Kingdom held enough frivolity and fantasy for the youngsters. Now, your head is chopped off for even implying that childrens' needs have, unfortunately, become the # 1 priority of all concerned. Children will enjoy what is offered to them. Grown-ups do what they can to ensure a wonderful vacation for their entire family. I feel bad that a simple hot tub or two would not fit into the new and improved Poly pool area.

As much as I adore DisneyWorld and its wondrous fantasy existence, I am finding that other places/hotels can offer a 50 year old hard-working woman niceties that Disney and its patrons have somehow lost in the shuffle :(

There are no hot tubs at the Poly because of Polynesian customs and traditions......I think WDW is being respectful of the polynesian culture....

Check Tikiman's site...I think I read it there!

Polynesian tradition says no hot tubs? Hmm, that's interesting.

I agree that most WDW hot tubs are generally full of little kids anyway. I had a long conversation with a bunch of kids in the OKW lighthouse sauna a few weeks ago... I think I was the only person in there over the age of 13. I think if I'd been their parent I would have wanted to be in there with them, just to make sure they didn't pass out from the heat.

I don't ever remember saying anywhere that no hot tubs was a Polynesian tradition but I do know it was a construction issue and a maintenance issue. This is the reason the new GF pool was not built with a hot either. I enjoy the jet area of the new pool and if any kid made it off the slide all the way over to that area they must have exited the slid at about 60 miles an hour.

I love a hot tub as much as the next person but I find way too many other things that I love at the Polynesian to have a hot tub make my decision to stay there.

Okay with me since I will NOT use a public hot tub. We have a hot tub at home and it's a lot of work. If the chemicals aren't just right, it's a breeding ground for bacteria, etc. Now imagine those little children in that hot tub and then imagine what I know some adults do in hot tubs even at Disney (I read it here!) <wink wink> and well, you can see why I do not use hot tubs at hotels! :)

Melrosgirl,

That is exactly what I meant about “maintenance issues” I was not going to get into the details but that was the reason I was told. They said other than the AKL there was not going to be any plans for putting in hot tubs in any new pool construction. Unfortunately people take it out on the Polynesian when it was a Disney decision.

That is ok. More room for me when I want to stay at the Polynesian. :)

Maybe it only SEEMED like they were coming at me at 60 mph! You made me laugh out loud at the end of a loong day, and that's no easy feat!

I agree about it not making a bit of difference to me (hot tub=top priority). I booked one night there (while we were also at Vistana with friends) just so I could stay there and drink it all in. We honeymooned at the Poly in June of 1981 and it remains my absolute favorite romantic resort.

That was no kid coming down at 60 mph. That was me!!!!

Have a great day and a good laugh helps us all through the day.

Melrosegirl- I have a large hot tub in my house and a inground pool in yard. and your right I never thought about how hard it is to keep everything balanced at home and how much more difficult it is at a resort. I guess you get spoiled and want what your used to.

Now that you all mentioned the "maintenance" issues all I can picture is that commercial of a kid in a pool w/water wings on telling his mother he does't have to go potty anymore as a guy swims under him. And the tag is "you're not as clean as you think" LOL.
