Current Resale owner.... New Direct owner - what do I need to know

Comments suggesting that DVC 20% discount was meaningless because you could get the same with a free Disney Visa used to irk me. It was not the same. Visa came with a $50 minimum making it very tedious. I see they finally changed that part while dropping to only 10% discount. Probably because to stop the spurious comparisons 😅

They were 2 totally different experiences though. With DVC: Want to buy a $35 t-shirt? Here’s a $7 discount - no strings attached. Or even a bottle of water at the resort market - pay one dollar less. With Visa: Didn’t take long for me to despise needing to contemplate every purchase and if/when it was worth trying to hit $50 or not.

DVC discount has been mush less effort, much more useful.

The best part of Disney Visa for us ended up being the character meets at EP. Those have all been great! And they have continued to accept my expired card lol.
Totally agree and you don't have to use the VISA you can use any form of payment like charge to the room, or gift cards you bought at a discount.

Not to mention with visa card cant use gift cards which was a real drawback. Just saw that was already mentioned 😅

Ive heard about people still being able to use ap discount even after expiration some kind of glitch, but since youre direct probably dont need it!
TBF, Disney discounts are wild. We did ‘Ohana 9-10 days ago and when we asked the server to apply our AP discount I was getting ready to pull my phone and he was “don’t worry, you don’t need to show it to me”.

Third party DS restaurants are also super flex about it.

Every time I've wanted to use my AP for discounts they've wanted to see the ticket in my MDE app (with the expiration date) along with an ID that matches. At least, when using the AP discount for the special AP appreciation discounts like 40% off at dining etc. For the standard 10% off they're less strict for sure though.

They used to never ask me to show them thru the app and I noticed this last time they did at ak merch store, they told us that they were doing that because they caught people showing screenshots of other people's passes 🤣

At liberty tree tavern they didnt ask, but she was hovering over my phone peeking as I was opening it 🤣🤣
