Why no Fantasy from NYC

Obviously there are reasons but I'd love to hear what everyone has to say as to why the Magic and not the Fantasy sails from NYC? Not sure of the logistics...does it have to do with the fact that the Magic goes to Europe? I'm so NOT a fan of the Magic but going again next week (only because of sailing from NYC and the itinerary - no Bahamas/Port Canaveral!).

DCL signed a contract with port canerval that the new ships have to stay there for so long. Even if there were no contract DCL probably wouldn't move the newer ships anyway. Just my guess but I don't see the dream or fantasy moving until one of the new ships come in 2021.

Fantasy isn't too big, NCL has their big ships there and Carnival Vista will be there in a few days. I think it has to do with PC contracts with the big ships.

The Fantasy did stop in NYC before she headed to PC for her inaugural cruise. The reason is as someone else mentioned that the Dream/Fantasy are under contract for PC.

As soon as I heard the Fantasy was being Christened in NYC I knew I would be there!!! Of course I don't rate enough to have received an invitation to the actual event, but my friends and I were there to welcome her to New York. We also came back 2 days later to watch the celebs come aboard for the actual Christening party (looking for those pics).

Ok, found them. We got kicked out the terminal before I could get good pics but we got then Mayor Michael Blumberg arriving and later saw the VIP cars pulling up directly to the ship. A side panel hatch dropped from the ship (below the Fantasy logo) and out walked Nick Canon (Mariah Carey was supposed to christen the ship but it was too windy apparently out on the ledge) and Nick stepped up with Minnie Mouse to actually smash the champagne bottle.
