Why No Cs Only Dining Plan ?

I've been thinking for awhile that it would be great if Disney offered different levels of the DDP - now that they came out with the deluxe I am wondering - Why don't they do a more basic, less expensive, CS dining plan? Say everyone in your party gets 2 CS and 1 Snack per day, instead of the TS, CS and Snack. It seems to me that a lot of people would choose this "economical" version - people who prefer CS, who don't want to make all of those ADRs, who have very young kids who don't sit well for long restaurant meals, who have a lower food budget, etc - obviously they just have to program the computers to recognize what credits a person has, so its no biggie. They could even do it so that for every 5 nights you'd get 9 CS, 1 TS, and 5 Snacks - That way people could do a character meal during their stay, if they wanted to. Why do you think they don't do a CS plan?????

My guess because they believe there wouldn't be a big demand for it. I know personally, I wouldn't want to eat counter service for every meal. Most people who do, probably wouldn't want to pay in advance for their meals anyway just for the convience factor.

I could see this possibly being offered in the future. Remember that the dining plan in its current form is only in about its 3rd or 4th year. Lots of bugs to work out of it, most especially with the ADR system, which simply does not work well at all, IMO.

However, I agree with the previous poster: the demand for something like this may not be there to justify its offering. The only thing that makes the current dining plan the least bit appealing to me is that there is a marginal savings for my family. But my family meets certain criteria that make it worth it for us: we eat most of our meals onsite, and we like to eat at a few TS restaurants during our stays. Most of the savings, of course, come in the TS restaurants.

Next year, though, the DP changes so that tips are not included, as well as the appetizers. That means we won't be getting it next year if we go to WDW.

Yes, some people would rather eat CS all vacation, rather than shell out the much greater prices for TS. I know we used to be like that when DW and I were a little younger. But in those cases, it's really most economical to just pay out of pocket for the CS meals you do eat. If you're staying onsite, you can charge the food to your room, which gives you the convenience of not having to carry cash to pay for it. An onsite room is a prerequisite for the DP anyway.

Not that anyone asked, but I'd be very interested in a CS dining plan. Especially for our shorter trips:)

I don't get the dining plan, as many of my trips are solo and I can do better with my AP and room discounts. However, when I travel during hot weather, I tend to not eat at TS restaurants and eat mostly snacks and CS. I just can't stand heavy meals when it's hot. When I travel during the winter and spring, I eat about half TS and half CS. So I can see where a CS dining plan could be a good fit for a certain segment of the market. I'm sure there are other people who don't eat heavy when it's hot, and I'm sure there are families on a budget who could benefit. Maybe if enough people email Disney and make comments on their surveys, they might consider it.

I would be interested if you gave us 3 cs a day with a snack. We usually only do a TS twice a week.

A CS plan...sounds like a lot of people would be interested! I like the idea, but I also like the regular dining plan! I would not want to eat CS all the itme...I definitely need character meals almost every day! But, I see your point!

That would be great as long as they didnt tie it in with a package. Onsite only. We do lots of little trips and until recent free dining promotions only ate cs, it works for us and our budget. So we would definetly do this, however, i wouldnt do a package just to get it.

I doubt that we'll be using the new dining plan as of 08. I always liked the convenience of having everything prepaid, including tip (then I could always add extra for really good service at my discretion). I was just telling DGD that I guess we'll have to check out some of the CS places that we never get a chance to try. So, yeah, I think a CS dining plan would be great. :thumbsup2 We'd probably add a TS meal each trip and just pay for it out of pocket. And it would free up some of that time and money we spend in restaurants so that maybe we could squeeze in a few extra activities--water parks, mini golf, shopping, shopping, shopping...;)
