Had 4 chairs on the 2 patios outside the VWL
then moved over to Caribbean Beach where there were no chairs outside the door (not even plastic!)
Is this true at all moderate & value resorts?

Yes, it's true. Moderate and value resorts don't have balconies and patios. Just walkways and I'm sure the fire marshal wouldn't want them blocked by furniture.

Yes. As the moderates and value resorts are motels. The area outside the door to your room is not your patio area but a public walkway. The deluxe resorts are hotels and offer balconies or for the first floor rooms patios. This is your space and that is why you have chairs and usually a table on the patio area.

Hope this makes sense.

As stated it would be serious fire hazard to block a public walkway.

If I remember correctly there are chairs outside at POR in the Allagator bayou.

We just returned from POFQ. A couple next door to us did bring their chairs outsie to sit and there was PLENTY of room to walk by.

If there were, I don't think they were provided by Disney. You get what you pay for ~ if you want a patio/balcony you have to bump up a notch to the deluxes or HAFH resorts. VWL is a DVC resort in the HAFH catagory;)

P.S. ~ we have stayed at POR a few times and in the AB section too. There were no chairs when we were there.

when we stayed at cbr we brought our room chairs out onto the walkway a few times to watch fireworks/have a drink (while the kids slept inside) and it was fine... if someone wanted to walk by, there was plenty of room (but no one ever did, we were on a remote corner w/no foot traffic)... as soon as we were done sitting, we brought our chairs back in... did the same thing at ASSp and it was fine (we were first floor there, so it was even roomier)

Good idea gigi1313!!::yes:: I'll have to remember that when we arrive at CBR next Saturday!! Thanks!:wave2:

We did the same thing a few years back at CBR. Right outside our room the walkway sort of juted out so we sat there out of the way of anyone passing by. We actually found three plastic chairs outside my son's room that we used. Once a CM walked by and laughed and told us we'd be more comfortable in the room chairs but to remember to take them back in. I love being able to step outside. Since we had our first deluxe stay at WL we always stay in the resorts with the private balconies/patios. Now we're spoiled I guess.

I've seen some folks take out chairs and tables from their rooms (moderates and values) and place them in the public areas while they play cards, smoke cigars, drink beer and have "fun". We have also observed people that sit in chairs (in public balcony areas) and watch the "fireworks". As long as you've got the money, Disney doesn't care if you grew up in a barn!
