Why no 6-day hoppers?

We're headed to DLR the last week in Sept., staying off-site...5-day hoppers were the only available option (we're used to WDW tickets going up to 10 days). Why do they limit to 5 days? Any chance that by the time we go they will have 6-day hoppers? If there are, will we be able to upgrade?

The 6 day PH were just discontinued last month. It is unlikely that they will be available for your trip. Not exactly sure why they did get rid of them on the first place.

We're disappointed. We thought 6 days were perfect! Guess we'll be doing 5 days next trip.

I think Disney wasn't thinking clearly when they made that decision.

Open up a new land in DCA and drop the amount of park days. Wonder who came up with that idea.

Without fingerprint scan technology at DLR like there is at WDW, the tickets were being fraudulently given or sold to others to use the remaining days. This was happening even as close as on Harbor Blvd. Instead of buying a 4 day pass, people were buying 8 day passes with no intention of using the last days themselves.

That being said, there is an unwritten policy that allows you to upgrade your 5 day pass to a 6 day pass (or to anything up to 8 days). Just ask guest services.

Why don't they add fingerprint scan technology at DLR, you ask? Probably because most guests are locals who come for a day. Applying fingerprint scans to all tickets would be an unnecessary nuisance to most guests.

Has anyone tried to upgrade their tickets (adding a day or two) in the last few weeks?

I heard in another thread that they won't add any extra days onto the tickets now. That may have been from a phone CM that answered a guests question and we all know how reliable they are.

Yes, there have been reports of upgrades happening since 6/15.

I was told to go to guest services in the park and talk to them and they would add extra days if we would like. We will be there in a couple of weeks; so, I'll report back what happens! :cheer2:

Will make it mre difficult to afford for me. Used to get tickets for $65 a day thru "scalpers"

I know it is wrong but the only way I could afford to have the family frequent Disneyland.

I honestly don't get this. Why? :confused3 Rhetorical question. But this is pretty much illegal...

You can buy a 4 day non park-hopper ticket for $245.00, /4 days makes it $61 per day. Even cheaper if you go for a 5 day. Yes it is a larger cost upfront but if you are going to DL for more than 2 days then these 'scalped' tickets are not saving you anything. Maybe I'm just taking the bait, but IMO if you really want to take your family to Disney, wait until you can afford it without resorting to black-market tickets.

Which is exactly why Disney has stopped selling tickets for more than 5 days.

Agreed. When I hear stories from people who have participated in this fraudulent activity, it really annoys me. These are the folks who have ruined it for everyone else.

Huh.
At least my frustration at not being able to purchase a 6-day park-hopper stree-free now has a name. :rotfl:

Anyway, since we stay on site, I'm not sure how going in and talking to guest service is feasible, or at least in my comfort zone. I don't have enough faith in an unwritten understanding to book a hotel at DLR for 5 nights only to find out we can't upgrade to a 6 day.

Good. You scamming Disney has made it more expensive for everybody else. A taste of your own medicine.

There have not been any reports of people not being able to add days up to 8. The only reports come from those that called a CM on the phone that isn't even in Disneyland, let alone the ticket booth or Guest services. Staying onsite gives you extra power allowing you to add days because you have proof from Disney that you will be the one there using the tickets. Also I'm fairly sure they'll likely make anyone adding days to their tickets put their name on their tickets.

Agree. Keep looking as people report back every week or so with their experience. I'll be there in two weeks from today asking Guest Services to upgrade our 6-day hoppers to 8 days. We have down days planned but if we can add a couple extra days at the cost of $5/ticket as has been reported numerous times, it will give us great flexibility.

I was just there and went to the ticket booths in the middle and asked about our 5 day hoppers I bought for our December trip and we have plans to be there for 10 days and she said that yes we could add on days. They just have to get permission to do it from their lead.

Sorry I was honest...

Like I said, It wasn't right. But it is what it is...

If we could afford 4day PH at $61 a day We would have gotten them.

But being young and having 3 kids we couldn't.

It would take a lot scrapping together $65x5 as it was....

Judge however you want to, at least my kids saw the Magic.
Sometimes a parent has to do what they have to for their kids.

Why is everyone OK with the crazy prices DL charges now?
I know make decent money and still will be only able to afford to take my Family every few years.

Yes, you were honest but about being dishonest.
Yes, Disney charges crazy prices. But clearly people want to go so they still are willing to pay the honest amounts. For me, it costs $1500+ PER airfare to come, PLUS accom, tickets etc. Does that mean I am entitled to buying wrong tickets because it costs me so much? No. I work hard and am saving up. Who cares that you might not be able to take your kids so often, it's called patience, and you and your kids might appreciate the magic more when it is 100% legit. Sorry but people who rip off the system(s) be that small organisations, large organisations or governments for whatever reason annoy me. Disney don't bump their prices up for no reason, they have clear business plans and goals and need to reach targets. :confused3 Just my 2cents worth but yeh.
