Why May 5th?

If Disneyland opened on July 17th, why is the celebration starting on May 5th?

I don't know officially -- but it's neat that the 5 parks (WDW, DL, Tokyo, Paris, and eventually Hong Kong) will begin the 50th Anniversary Celebration on 5/5/05.

Not sure of the "official" reason, but look at the numbers.

May 5, 2005 is 05/05/05....flip it backwards and you got 50/50/50...50th!

Very interesting. I am just glad that all of the parks are doing something so we can all see the brand new shows and new attractions.

Happy early birthday and just think of all of those people celebrating and all of the parties that will be thrown on your special day courtesy of Disney.

mine is the same day as red nose day over here in England

but i still have to go to school

back on the subject maybe it's because the new theme park is opening on that day making it the 5th theme park for the 50th celebration which is on the 5th of may 2005 and may is the 5th month making it all 5s or maybe it's beause they say so

thanks for all the replies! I never would have figured out the 5-5-05 thing, I tend to glance right over minor details *which isn't really good cause WDW is FULL of minor details.

Red Nose Day is a day when people in the UK raise funds for those disadvantaged around the world.

I think it got its name because in its first year they produced red plastic noses for everybody to purchase and wear. People usually do very silly things to raise money. This year everyone is being encouraged to do something to their hair and change their appearance for one day.

They have an evening of television taken over for this on the BBC with entertainment from various celebrities and sketches from programmes such as "Little Britain".
