Why is the Plaza a TS resturant? What am I missing?

from the menu on allears, it appears to be sandwiches? so what makes this a TS (on the DDP) place? just wondering if I'm missing something.

Because you sit and are served like any other table-service restaurant. If you're worried about "wasting" a TS credit on the dining plan, this might be a good place to pay OOP.

I have a ressie (made it for 4:15 just in case we wanted to eat before MNSSHP and right after we enter the park at 4:00) and we are on the QSDP so we'd be paying OOP anyway, but I was looking at the menu and that just made me wonder? We will probably just eat a QS late lunch at AKL before we leave for the party and I'll cancel my ressie!

Same reason Beaches and Cream is a TS...You have a waiter/waitress serve you, clear your table ,refill drinks etc.

The Plaza has the best sammy's inside Disney and the fries are divine. We never do DDP and have TIW so it is a bargain for us and we dine there quite frequently. Not as heavy as other CS and we like the service over a QS location.

Agreed :)

We went to the Plaza back in 2007 on the dining plan... I didn't like it! Mainly because I felt I was wasting a dining credit for a HAMBURGER! I was however in a bad mood before I arrived and in a rush... so that may have something to do with it. However, we felt the service was extremely slow and both my DM and were using ECVs... and we felt they were annoyed that there were 2 ECVs. I could have parked mine and walked in, had a place been offered to do so... however, my DM was having a really bad day and it was all she could do to transfer to a reg. seat. They didn't offer any place to park them and got huffy when we came in.

It is glorified CS, but you do get to sit down and have a server and leave a tip. With TIW it is about the same price as Cosmic Rays or CHH. An option, but not our favorite by any means.

I think a better question is, why is it so hard to get an ADR for the place and why is there always a line of people waiting to be turned away at the podium, considering that all they do is serve sandwiches?

We've eaten there once, and while the sandwiches we had were okay, it's certinaly not worth the time when there are better places to be found just outside the main gates.

But, yes, I've said this before, too. It should be conter service, at least for lunch.

The benefit is to be able to go in, sit down, relax and be served instead of CS.
Also, less crowded than CS.

It is an option for those that enjoy it, and was also always a lower price option for than other TS in MK.

Since DDP, many on that plan meals around the biggest "bang" for their buck always looking at item costs to book the most expensive one as on DDP, all meals cost the same when 1 TS places.

Last year, we were waiting near the Plaza for Wishes, and a woman mentioned they always loved to eat there but are not allowed to anymore because her husband won't waste a DDP credit on such a cheap meal.

Us, we pay OOP with no DDP and eat where we want.

I enjoy the quite time some days and it is only a little more expensive than CS.

I see no reason to make it CS - there are plenty of CS options at MK for those that prefer CS without taking away the Plaza as a TS.

The reuben is pure heaven and the fries are great. We did this last Christmas oop. We didn't get dessert, and with tip, we were out under $20. I may do it next year and use a credit. Not every meal needs to be the greatest dollar value on ddp. Our server was very slow, but our service was very good. She had a way of getting several things done at once.

Because like others have said you have a waiter to take your order/clean up/etc like any other restaurant. It's not just sandwiches though, my DH got a meatloaf with mash potato platter and it was very good, I think it was a special.

It's worth it to be able to sit down, in a crowded park, with air conditioning.

Just like at home, not every restaurant is mid to high end. Casual dining but above CS

Something for everyone!:thumbsup2

We have an ADR here on our upcoming trip and I thought the same thing when looking at the menu. I don't mind using a credit for it but it seems like it is a lot of the same type food that we good get at CS. I haven't decided yet if I am keeping it. We don't really want any other TS in MK so this was the best option and the timing was good.

If you don't mind using a credit, I say go for it.. that was my main issue. The food was good, just didn't care for the service... however, like I said, I was in a bad mood when we arrived so it probably factored in on my perspective.

We did this restaurant on the fourth of July. We timed it so that when we got up we would be in just the right spot to grab a seat for the fireworks and parade. We did pay out of pocket. It was nice to sit down after a long day, and we did not want a big meal. Worked great for us.

We went to the Plaza before MNSSHP on 9/25. I had the best hamburger I have had in a long time and it went great with the huge milkshake. My friend had the reuben and said it was wonderful too.
