I'm on the auto train now and it's so rough. Lots of swaying and bumps. It feels like we're going to go off the tracks. I took the regular train to disney in June and it was a much smoother ride.

The only thing I can think of is the regular train (Amtrak ) are single level cars and the AT are the two story viewliners....and the track down south are the roughest....higer the car...the more they sway.....haven't been on the AT in 35 years but use regular Amtrak all the time, and there's some spots down south that are absolutely horrible, even with regular Amtrak.....but they don't own the tracks.....

I was on this train yesterady and was thinking the same thing. I woke up out of my sleep several times feeling like the AT was going out of control.

I ride the AT several times a year and found this ride to be really rough too. Hope it was just an anamoly.

Were you on it yesterday from Lorton to Sanford? We actually were in an accident last night around 1:30am. The crew told us it was a suicide. Someone had there car on the tracks. We were delayed because we were stopped for 3 hours so they could investigate.

Pepe, thanks for your insight. I took the regular amtrak down to disney in June. Loved it! But this time my mom came with us, and wanted to do the auto train. I found the auto train to be alot rougher.

Can you move about any time you want to? Try standing in different areas, different cars, upper and lower deck, etc.

Perhaps one car might have a poorer suspension than another. If you are actually sitting on the lower deck you will experience less swaying.
